  2. This is my first NAS. I had old equipment that was a dedicated Plex server but wanted to convert to a full NAS with Olex running on it. I haven't seen any issues with performance. I have it set up to sync to Dropbox (soon to switch to Backblaze) and an external drive to back up. I transfer large files over gigabit Ethernet and average 112MBps. Honestly I'm happy and do not plan to add an SSD for cache.
  3. Strange, maybe I poked around in the folders and downloaded the wrong file. It can be tough to concentrate with a toddler in your ear. Thanks for putting this together, up and running on 6.1.3 now!
  4. Thanks for the response, I found my issue. The OP links to the boot loaders with a main and mirror. The main link points to v1.01 instead of 1.02b so I've been using the wrong boot loader. It's detecting fine now. reading the specs https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/P8H61I_R20/specifications/ 4 x sata intel chipset, all seem to be identical nic: Realtek® 8111F manual talks about ide and ahci mode so check for bios settings (all 4 ports to ahci mode) and for bios updates
  5. I'm having an issue installing 6 on a repurposed system. I cannot get the disks to detect properly. My motherboard is ASUS P8H61-I R2.0 with i5-2500 and 8GB ram. Mobo has 4 sata ports. All documentation point to one controller. If I use 4 for my sata port map it gives me an error on disks 3,4. I decided to try to install 5.2 and it detects disks 1,2,5,6. Going back to version 6 I input sata port map 6 and same error. I've also tried 22 in case it was 2 controllers. No joy. I may just have to stick with 5.2 but would like to run 6. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  6. This is a bit of an old post and not sure I'll get a response but I'm curious about the cache a bit more. I'll have exactly 8gig of RAM. Would my system be ok without cache?
