  1. I know its currently a preview, but I'm wondering if anyone has asked him yet? This community sorta depends on it since I'm not sure if anyone else is working on loaders besides him.
  2. Thanks. My box has a raid card mixed with using the motherboard raids. Creating a new raid each time is going to be super time consuming. I guess I'll only do it once in awhile when there is a majority security update. Thanks for the help.
  3. The both cables goes into a Synology Router. I set it up as bonded. Just 1 is bonded at 1gb and the other one is 100mb.
  4. I hope this is not a stupid question. I'm wondering how do you guys check to see if a specific update will mess up your box. Each time I update, I look at someone who might have done those updates to see if it messes up and cross my finger each time I do an update. I really want something a bit more definite because I feel like one day my luck will run out. Do you guys use a VM on the box itself? Would that even work? Thanks!
  5. I installed the HP HC360T on my i7 6700 custom box and for some reason only 1 of the Ethernet ports is getting 1gbps. The other was is only 100mbps. Is that common for you guys? Thanks.
  6. I'm sorry I might have come off harsh. I might have done it already, but the last part was a bit confusing. After patching, there is this command: sudo ./patch.sh -p It gives me 2 options to backup. 1) /usr/syno/bin/synocodectool 2) /volume1/@appstore/VideoStation/bin/synocodectool I backed up both, but I'm not sure if I did something incorrect.
  7. You guys can blame the youtube howto videos and tutorials on how to install xpenology on bare metal boxes. Because of them, I end up here asking ultra noob questions. I know you guys are super smart with this, but these comments dissuade people like me to not participate in this forum. Maybe that was the intent.
  8. Thanks in advance for this. Can someone make a tutorial for us noobies?
  9. Thanks man. Willingness wouldn't be a problem if my family knows that the files and chat system backed up locally. They would continue to use Facebook messenger for contacts outside the family. Sounds like there isn't a good jabber server that I could use on my boxes. Thanks for the reply.
  10. Have anyone loaded a third party chat software on our boxes? I like using Synology chat but it's more business use and not social use. I'm trying to get away from using Facebook messenger. Thanks.

  12. Some of us newbies understand about 80% of what the tutorials are saying. I have spent many countless hours looking through this forum, on youtube, and even the knock off .org site that tries to copy this site. There is no definitive way to upgrade to 6.2 from 6.1 on bare metal servers. When I first did this process, the loader was very specific on Intel or AMD. The new guide doesn't specify if its universal now or only Intel. I basically need to know if I can take my new 3617xs 1.03b usb and replace the old AMD loader USB and I'm able to update my DSM from 6.1 to 6.2. I'm on a AMD piledriver chipset.
  13. I have over 1000 attempts and after changing my Port out it stopped.
  14. Is there anything special I have to do other than create a new 6.2 USB loader and replace it with the 6.1 loader? I haven't upgraded because I can't find this answer. I need a step by step if it's more complicated. Thanks!!
