I have a problem with HDD passthrough under ESXi 6.7 and XPEnology Loader 1.04b. I wanted to pass an HDD via SATA passthrough to XPE. Since my OMV file server has already been assigned the additional SATA controller, I have another (same model) installed and enabled this in the VM settings. In the virtual machine, I added the PCI device and started the system. Unfortunately, I had assigned the wrong SATA controller, because I have the HDDs of the OMV file server in DS memory manager were displayed. Unfortunately, after changing and assigning the new SATA controller, I do not see any new hard drives in the DS memory manager. When I pass the new controller with the attached hard disk to the OMV VM, the disk is displayed to me. Have you ever had problems that certain hard drives can not be passed through passthrough?

I have a VM based on ESXi 6.7 with the Loader 1.04b running and now I want to include one or more disks. In the first step, a 10TB and a 8TB are to be integrated as single plates (without Raid). With which variant do I have the best performance and which allows me to put the hard drives into standby (hibernation)? Create disk in VM (Thin or Thick) and assign the VM. Raw device mapping (physical or virtual) for integration into the VM Pass SATA controller to VM (passthrough) With which method do I have the best performance? Which method enables hibernation and thus saves electricity costs?

Ich hatte Probleme mit dem Update 3. Auf Basis ESXi 6.5 mit Bootloader 1.02b und 6.1.3-15152-3 hatte ich eine sehr schlechte HDD Performance. Vor dem Update lag die Schreibleistung zwischen 105 und 113 MB/sek nach dem Update zwischen 2-15 MB/sek. Die HDD wurde in ESXi als vdmk angelegt. Die Hardware ist eine Seagate IronWolf 10TB, die vdmk wurde als Thick leazy mit voller Größe erstellt. Das Volume wurde auf auf einem Basis, ext4 Raid erstellt. Nachdem ich wieder auf die Vorgängerversion zurück bin, ist der Datendurchsatz wieder einwandfrei. Für Vorschläge zur Problemlösung bin ich dankbar und ansonsten könnte die Problemmeldung für wechselwillige Nutzer interessant sein. Viele Grüße Darkwing
