  2. have just done the update on the n40l and 8th gen with no problems i used RR 23.11.8 and used all the same settings as before i did ad the serial number i was using not sure if this is needed i did it by going to advanced, edit user config file, and changed the number next to sn: i then built the loader after the loader was built i went back into the advanced settings and switched direct boot to true i then booted the loader after around 5 min the server was visible to my pc i updated the dsm direct form synology on the restart it took nearly the full 10 minuets for the server to restart
  3. Thanks I do have all my settings written down I am going with a new usb drive and new image I have the serial number the server has been using but can't see where in the rr menu I can enter this to preserve it Or is that something I dont need to do
  4. Hi all just got notified of an update on the DSM 7.2.1-69057 update 1 i am running this on a HP N40L now this is my first time updating and i believe i need to update arpl-i18n first when i did this install i used version 23.7.5 and i see the latest version is 23.11.6 i also had to turn on direct boot for it to work now down to my question can i load into the i18n menu and update from there and if i can do that then do i need to build the loader again or is it done automatically doing it this way is all the setting preserved ie direct boot and things like serial number or do i need to down load the file from git hub and create a new usb boot drive and redo all the settings
  5. have just done my gen 8 using the i18n and the same settings as the n40l and its booted 1st time and running great
  6. Hi a little help please a few days ago i used the i18n loader with an n40l server and to get it to work i had to go into advanced then development tools and use switch direct boot to true i have just tried to do the same with a new usb drive after i click on development tools it loads then goes back to the previous menu but the option for switch direct boot is no longer there am i missing something? answered my own question i had to make the bootloader then go back into advanced and the option was there
  7. Just wanted to say thanks you all for the help just in case any one is trying to do the same thing with the HP n40l think it will also work with the n54l i installed ULANSEN PCI-E to USB 3.0 Type C +3 Type A Expansion Card - Interface USB 3.0 4-Port Express Card and the UPS was seen starlight away i am still on the arpl loader but i take it with this card as its a lot faster than the onboard USB Peter Sue s loader should work
  8. Hi i hope some one can help me i have installed DS3622xs+ on a N40L using ARPL the server has started up fine but when i add my UPS Cyber power VP1200ELCD via usb it dose not see it checking on the synology web site the VP1200ELCD is compatible with the DS3622xs+ i have a second server running the old jun loader running DS3615xs and the UPS is picked up straight away i am hoping to also bring this server over to DS3622xs+ with the ARPL loader and would like to know how to get the UPS working any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
  9. UPS still not working after a tried the steps above its a Cyber Power VP1200ELCD and shows compatible with the DS3266sx+ on the synology web site so at a loss with that i tried your loader again i got to recover then i got failed it never asked me for a file just started counting 1% stopped at 2% using synology assistant i can click on recover system then it did ask for the pat file but got the same problem as before gets to 57% then fails
  10. did you ever solve this problem as i am getting the same thing
  11. no the server is up and running plugging the ups in and its not seen by the server at first i was thinking it may be due to the boot loader and how it works thats why i asked the question but it now looks like synology removed the drivers for the usb ports that the n40l has
  12. its to get the ups to work only from what i understand the after DSM7 there are no native drivers installed for the usb sockets on the n40l that is why the ups is not working
  13. Is that to get the usb working again as I may have found a work around here https://mariushosting.com/synology-how-to-add-usb-support-on-dsm-7/
  14. dose the method we have used stop other things using the usb ports on the server i only ask as i have a ups and its no longer detected when i plug in the usb cable have also just tried it with a external hard drive and this is not detected both using different usb ports
  15. would it still be the same loader 0.9.4.3-2 that you will use with your updated settings or will there be a new one? aprl-i18n is good but i find your interface a lot easer to follow
  16. N40L Bios settings C1E disabled and AHCI set IDE Combined mode dose not exist on my bios and the switch direct boot to true ds3622xs+ dsm 7.2-64570 update 1 is running fine will your installer now work the same? Do you want me to test your installer now to see if it works before i start to put things back on my server?
  17. thank you for taking the time to help trying it again i tried making the build the loader with out the direct boot and the server was not seen by windows am now trying it with switch direct boot true now i know how to get to the setting
  18. have used the img you posted but still cant see the switch direct boot option
  19. do i use that image file to the usb in place of your tinycore-redpill.v0.9.4.3-2.m-shell.img?
  20. I Cant see the option in your picture there is no advanced option or switch direct boot in the options menu
  21. I belive that is how my bios is set up but will double check when I get home And will try the direct boot Thanks
  22. I have an old 250gig ssd If I make that my boot drive with redpill will I have a better chance of this working? at work now so can't try it until tomorrow
  23. unfortunately its usb 2.0 only and i am using scandisk ultra fit 32gb says speed up to 130mb read on the packet the old jun loader still works and lets me get back into an old version of synology may have to fall back to that
  24. a little more info i am using the tinycore-repill v 0.9.4.3-2m on the N40L i have make a boot for both the 7.1.1-42962 and 7.2 64570 booth boot and i can get to the install DSM screen but i get the same result on both it gets to 57/58% of the install and fails i have C1E turned off in the bios the server is running 8gig of ram can any one give me some things to try and at this point i am at a loss on what to do next one thing to note on the monitor connected to the server it says TCRP JOT Version 0.9.4.3-1 is this correct should in not be -2?
