  1. - Outcome of the update: FAILED - DSM version prior update: DSM 7.2-64561 - Loader version and model: TCRP v0.9.4.9a with Friend - DVA1622 - Using custom extra.lzma: NO - Installation type: BAREMETAL - ACER; Intel J4125; 16GB DDR4; 1x1TB HDD - Additional comments: I can log into the system and have full access to local network. Anything over the internet is blocked. Downgraded to 7.1.1 and I can get internet access again.
  2. Check out this project: https://github.com/kroese/virtual-dsm Just installed it on my xpenology box and it works! Just don't use port 6000 as some browsers don't like that. I just use 7000 and 7001 to map to 5000 and 5001. It's like installing a synology box on easy mode if you run docker. I see plex and surveillance station in the app store. Very cool project. I am not the author... just wanted to spread awareness of this project.
  3. I get some errors on this one when I just run those lines. Something along the lines of the acpi recipe is not in the index. Since I was in proxmox, I restored to 42218. I'll wait for another brave soul. Thanks.
  4. @Orphée - Thank you so much for putting this together. This works great! I am just doing some testing. As stated, I am running this in proxmox... no GPU. I have (3) wyze cams connected to it using the wyze bridge docker in Home Assistant. This thing is damn stable. Ran all night recording different events happening around me. The way it presents the videos is perfect... way better than anything wyze has done. I was going to use frigate with a google coral, but this is so much more polished. I am planning on getting a GPU... probably roll with the GTX1650. I do have an ancient quadro k420, but that might be a tad too old. I'm not sure if it even supports CUDA. Thank you for everyone else for doing a lot of testing.
  5. Read my posts again and open your eyes too. Yep... you were right. Just a hint that the ext add command have different http addresses. Thanks. No assumptions.
  6. I'm so close on this. I'm building this in a proxmox environment. I can build it and get it to boot. I can't get the virtio extension added. I'm assuming that you need to run: ./rploader.sh ext denverton-7.0.1-42218 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/OrpheeGT/redpill-ext/master/acpid/rpext-index.json ./rploader.sh ext denverton-7.0.1-42218 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/OrpheeGT/redpill-ext/master/virtio/rpext-index.json before you can run: sudo ./rploader.sh build denverton-7.0.1-42218 The problem is if I try to add the extensions before building, I get an error. If I run: sudo ./rploader.sh clean denverton-7.0.1-42218 then it builds, but the extensions don't get added. I'm know I'm doing something the stupid way. What am I doing wrong. Thanks.
  7. Hi, I'm a computer engineer by education, but not professionally. Couple questions for this excellent project: Are all of the DSM apps built into the kernel? This is an interesting way to get this done... no wonder they don't want to just give it away. Since we're compiling from the actual DSM kernel, does this mean we can build this for any model that Synology makes (more than just what is offered by Jun)? I can see some awesome projects coming out of this possibility. I'm excitedly looking forward to a tutorial how to build this with your patches. Thank you.
  8. Just wanted to confirm that IG-88 was right. Given enough time, the notification updates will show up... be patient. Thanks.
  9. Ok. So you're saying it should eventually notify me of the update? I'll wait and see. I use a very vanilla install with no extra.lzma... I never could get extra.lzma to work on different systems. Thanks.
  10. Hi All, I'm running Loader v1.03b - DS3615xs on DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 6 through a supermicro motherboard. The notification updates for DSM used to show up. I know there's another update after the one I'm running, but my system just shows "Your DSM version is up-to-date." Can this be fixed?
  11. Hi, I've been running jun's loader v1.02a for a few months. Everything has been fine until I decided to install the latest update. After I tried installing, I can't connect any longer. I thought this wasn't a big deal and I just reinstalled the latest loader on a flash drive. I'm now on v1.02b with a ds3516. I can get the initial boot. I get the option to recover (only option) and I proceed. After the system reboots, I can't connect again. I then try ds3617. I get the option to migrate. Let the system do it's thing and it reboots... I can't connect. Any hints? Thanks.
  12. So, in the hardware list, I noticed that for intel chipset SATA controllers, only a few specific ones are listed. Someone on this forum indicated that the Supermicro X10SL7-F is supported. The chipset for this motherboard is Intel® C222 Express PCH. This chipset is not listed on the hardware support list. Are other "modern" chipsets supported? C204, etc.? I'm still planning on an xpenology server. Thanks.
  13. Thanks guys. I didn't realize a 4 drive synology could be had for under $300. I was thinking about getting this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/142380223304?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT If synology doesn't work out, I could go with FreeNAS or something else and not worry about hardware. What are your thoughts? Thanks.
  14. Been lurking here for a while. I have xpeneology working on an old macbook pro that I never got around to fixing up and it works almost perfectly. The only thing I can't do is WOL. Other than that and it can't hold more than 2 hard drives, I would stick with this setup. As I've been browsing the forum, I noticed that some are running HP N40L's and others are running beefier hardware with virtualization. I'd like to run on bare metal on something low power. I also want to do it cheap; this leaves those newer atom boards out of the picture. Ebay has tons of server equipment for pretty good prices, but the power usage is insane. Most are dual CPU, which I don't need and will probably only eat up energy. I'd also like to go with ECC ram just in case we don't get updates anymore for some reason. Can you guys recommend something good? Those HP proliant microserver gen8's look sweet if it wasn't for the $500 price tag. Ideally, I'd like to something the computer for around $300 (without the hard drives). Thanks.
