Glad you're all sorted now. Did you also disable C1E in the bios?
-
@babsiboAre you booting from the optical drive bay? I yes you will need the modded bios.
-
Exactly what image did you use?

Not sure why your volume isn’t showing up, the DSM os is stored on a separate partition so the upgrade shouldn’t have touched the data partition. -

Yes install/upgrade then manually select the pat file. -

If you didn’t use the pat file you downloaded DSM probably tried to update to 6.2. Have a look at this thread https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/42765-how-to-undo-a-unfinished-update-623-to-624-no-boot-after-1st-step-of-update/ -

You will need to create a new usb stick with this loader https://mega.nz/#!zFJTWYDA!hXHkdiuFbK_G8oIRDgndJhKUPw4ZbxOPmQueRnVqeK8 & download this pat file https://global.download.synology.com/download/DSM/release/5.2/5967/DSM_DS3615xs_5967.pat -

You should be able to update to 5.2-5967 ok, however as always it is best to have a backup of anything you don't want to risk losing & don't forget to disable C1E in the bios.. Below is a link to the loaders page. https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/7848-links-to-loaders/ -
How to delete parameters in grub.cfg after the USB loader image is burnt

To do as @flyridesuggested you will need to login via ssh. I’d suggest having a quick google search for the various vi commands before editing any files. -

I would also suggest changing the default “5000” & “5001” ports to something different. -
No, the internal nic is fine.

Surveillance station works ok, don’t use chat so can’t say about that.
-
I think that’s a bit hit & miss, my advice would be to add any new extra lice to your DS415 then add the cameras to the other server.

You could go for a G8 Microserver, there are lots on the market that have been upgraded with Xeon CPU’s. I’m not sure you can transfer the license packs but an alternative would be to continue using the DS415 & the new server then use the CMS app to manage both which also allows you to share the camera licenses between both servers.

@josejavier3 Loader 1.03b & DSM 6.2.3 for DS3615xs
-
Currently DSM 6.2.4 isn’t working with any loader, the latest version we can use is 6.2.3
-
6.2.4 isn’t working with any loader at present.
-
Yes you can connect 4 HDD’s in raid5, this server doesn’t come with a raid controller but DSM uses software raid so doesn’t need one.
-
No problem. The DS1621 is a good NAS & I'm sure you'll be very happy with it, you may need to repair the volume when you put the disks in but your data should be ok.
-
@Earthian E90 Have a look at this thread, it should help you recover your data. https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/7004-tutorial-how-to-access-dsms-data-system-partitions/

@ldr78 DO NOT update to 6.2.4 as this version of DSM isn’t working for anyone. 6.2.3 with jun’s 1.03b loader should be ok but my advice would be to test it with a spare HDD. As you’re not wanting transcoding I’d stick with DS3615xs. I’m not sure what nic you board has so can’t say if you’ll need the extra .lmz file.
