In short No, 5.1 can't be installed yet as there are significant issues that need to be resolved.

I'm running DSM 5.0 & the same version of video station as you & have an iphone running IOS 8.1 with dsvideo version 2.4-200 streaming to 2 Samsung smart TV's without problems.

I currently have an N40L with 5x2TB disks & a N54L with 4x2TB disks, both have a single SHR volume which hold the applications & data.

Looks good, should reduce the amount of dust getting inside.

You can't login as Admin via ssh, login as root instead but using the same password that you setup from Admin.

It might be worth searching the Synology forums to see if there is anything that may help.

you could try a Linux livecd or a windows boot disk/usb, anything really that will boot & allow you to delete the existing partition, you don't need to format. Once done DSM will see the disks as new.

How are you trying to connect to the NAS, via the web assistant or the Synology Assistant PC client. If using the web assistant try using the PC version as I sometimes find that works better.

Try adding the following & rebooting again. internalportcfg="0xfffff"

You'll need to edit /etc.defaults/synoinfo.conf & set the value of esataportcfg as shown below. esataportcfg="0x0" Save the file & then reboot.

Although your HDD's state 3gb, their actual formatted capacity is 2.73gb, so if you put them in a SHR array the maximum space you will get after DSM is installed is around 5.44gb.

As others have said, it's definitely possible as I have 5x2tb running under SHR. Have you modified the bios & set the sata controller to AHCI mode?

Did you put the 2 disks back in the same order they where in originally?

Try starting from scratch again with just the one disk, then if you get it working add the 2nd disk.
