A single volume is probably better for you as you can do what you want by creating different folders with different permissions for each.
-
That's not how migration works, effectively you've removed the HDD's DSM knows about & installed new ones, which is why you're being prompted to redo the setup.
-
In answer to your question, yes you can happily stay on 6.0.2 if it's working for you & you don't need any of the features in 6.1. I have 2 HPN54L (AMD) servers both of which were running 5.2 very happily until recently when I upgraded them both to 6.1.

You could try flashing the bios again, this appears to be a newer version: http://www.nathanielperez.us/blog/hp-proliant-n40l-bios-modification-guide or getting a 2 port pcie sata card
-
Not really sure what more there is to explain, the setting I was referring to is this line in grub.cfg. set sata_args='sata_uid=1 sata_pcislot=5 synoboot_satadom=1 DiskIdxMap=0C SataPortMap=1 SasIdxMap=0'

Tutorial: Install/Migrate DSM 5.2 to 6.0.2 (Jun's loader)
Dfds replied to Polanskiman's topic in Tutorials and Guides
If you're running DSM under ESXI on a AMD cpu you'll be fine, just make sure you have appropriate backups before you upgrade. As for the cpu shown in control panel, that's what is used in a real DS3615xs. -

Quickconnect will NOT work & is an abuse of Synology's services, if you need external access use something like NO-IP -

That mac address doesn't look right, should be something like 0011322CA785. Did you follow these instructions: When I upgraded my N54L's the only things I changed were the vid, pid & mac addresses & DSM 6.0.2 installed without issue. -
You might want to do some reading first, however as a starting point have a look here:
-
I just edited the grub.cfg file & removed all the boot entries except for the AMD one, so the last entry after function loadlinux { .. .. } Looks like this: menuentry "DS3615xs 6.02 Baremetal AMD $VERSION" --class os { set img=/image/DS3615xs set zImage=bzImage savedefault loadlinux 3615 usb loadinitrd showtips } AMD is now the default boot option as it is the only one, therefore no interaction required.

synology samba security is there a fix for xpenology users?
Dfds replied to screege's question in General Questions
I believe Synology have released a patch for DSM 6.0.3-8754-1 which resolves the issue, however as a workaround you can add the following line to your Samba configuration file smb.conf: nt pipe support = no see viewtopic.php?f=2&t=33179 for original thread. -
Have you set the vid & pid? if yes have you tried another usb stick. When I upgraded my N54L I removed all the boot entries except for the baremetal AMD option & everything worked ok.

DSM is installed on all HDD's, it isn't possible to install to a dedicated drive. A 1GB stick will be fine. -
Don't think it's possible on the N54L at present.
