HAPPY HACK
Dfds replied to YAVUZ's topic in General Installation Questions/Discussions (non-hardware specific)
@YAVUZ In order to receive help it's usual to provide relevant information regarding your hardware, the loader used & which DSM version you're trying to install. I'd also recommend having a look at the FAQ's -
The Gen8 can't use the 1.04b loader as it's too old, stick with 1.03b. As for the internal nic it works fine with 6.2.3

@Monotono Your CPU is too old for the 1.04 loader as the minimum requirement is a Haswell CPU.

Here in the UK you can find places like that, not sure about Denmark but as I said it's worth a try. Anyway good luck whatever you decide to do.

I don't know where you're based but it might be worth trying to find a local computer repair shop & getting a quote, at this point you don't really have much to loose.

Package Updates: Are the package updates save to install?
Dfds replied to Howard C's topic in Synology Packages
Yes it's safe to update the packages, it's only DSM updates that cause issues. -
It's an old unit but I thought they might at least offer some advice. A quick google search points to a motherboard failure, have you tried shutting down, removing all HDD's USB's etc & rebooting?
-
As it’s a genuine Synology device your best option is probably contacting Synology support.
-
As I said, you can use the internal nics with 6.2.3 so there is no need to add another nic card , meaning that the PCI slot is free for anything else you want to use it for.
-
@omarthe Gen8 Microserver will run DSM 6.2.3 using jun’s 1.03b loader with rhe internal nics.

Synology’s VMM won’t work on the N54, if you want to run other vm’s you may want to run everything under esxi, although the N54’s cpu isn’t that great.
-
As long as you’re not changing the motherboard you should be able to just swap out the cpu.

Have you setup port forwarding on your router, if you haven't that will explain why you can't access it from outside.
