  1. This really did the trick. I was trying the group 'httpd', but 'http' definitely does it. Thanks for the heads up. That was getting aggravating!
  2. I just wanted to follow up with this. In a last ditch effort I used Rufus to write the image to USB as opposed to Win32DiskImager and everything went fine without a hitch. Just wanted to post and let anyone else who may run into the same problem as I did - Use Rufus over Win32DiskImager
  3. You can try these: - Enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults. - Reset CMOS (see motherboard manual) and do first option. This didn't work Same exact problem. Even after optimizing BIOS and resetting CMOS, I get the same thing, it just hangs on Verifying DMI Pool Data. I'm starting to wonder if its a motherboard incompatibility issue (Gigabyte MA 785GMT-UD2H), because again, when I reboot with my old 4.3 stick, it works fine. Any other ideas, or should I try to give it a go with gnoboot (or switch over to a different platform entirely.. which I really don't want to do - I love Xpenology). Any last ditch ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated!
  4. Got it, thanks! I hate to keep asking so many questions, but like I said in my previous post on the last page, I really want to upgrade to DSM 5 so I dont have to worry about the SynoLocker exploit (I use the NAS remotely a lot). I've been on 4.3 for the better part of a year and everything's working great - I just want to protect myself against the exploit, since the NAS is always internet-facing. I wrote 'Nano-Boot 5.0.3.2 DSM 5.0-4493 X64' to USB, and when booting, I can't get past "AMD Data Change...Update New Data to DMI!' - it never gets past that. Also, if I change the boot order, I get stuck on "Verifying DMI Data..." (I've tried different USB sticks). Regardless of which order, if I put my old DSM 4.3 stick back in, it boots completely fine. I'm sure I'm missing something really simple here, I just need help getting pointed in the right direction. Again, this is an effort to update from 4.3-XXXX to 5.0-XXXX. Any help would be appreciated!
  5. When I upgrade from DSM 4.3 to DSM 5, do I need to install the Updates sequentially - as in: Install Update 1, then Update 2, then Update 3, etc, or can I go straight from 5.0 to 5.0 Update 4? Thanks!
  6. Quick question on updating from 4.3-3810 (I've read every post since Page 46, specifically this post - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3052&start=450#p20369), and each one references to read the manual in Poechi's signature. Unfortunately it's in a language I cannot understand. My Xpenology box has worked like a charm, I installed and never looked back a long time ago, but since the new SynoLocker exploit, I have removed the box from all internet access, but I'd like to fix that, which means updating to DSM 5 from 4.3-3810. Is there an English guide that will allow me to do so without losing data, so I can get back to normal and access the server online? Thanks, and sorry if I over-looked something. tl,dr: I was hoping to upgrade from 4.3-3810 to DSM 5.x Update X without losing data and hoping to find an English guide. Thanks for all of your support!
  7. I see the couple of posts above me, but I think this is a different issue, as I tried it disconnecting the first primary HDD. Either way, quick question. I've been trying to install Xpenology, but have been unsuccessful so far. When booting from USB, it keeps hanging at the following: [sdu] Attached SCSI Disk It will get that far every time and then just hang. A few lines up, it references sdu as the USB stick. I've now tried three (3) different flash drives and every time it hangs at this step in the install/loading process. What am I missing here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
