Installation of DSM that support deduplication into non uefi hardware
Aigor posted a question in General Questions
Hi, as title, could I install DSM that require UEFI into hardware without uefi bios? I have a HP gen8 Microserver with Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1220 that not support uefi, bios, I would like to install dsm that support deduplication like, for example RS3621xs+ But as far i know this model have UEFI , so i suspect that I can't install into non uefi system -
I think is not possibile, but you can try to fix. Mac address and serial number are on the paper box, you need to replace broken bios chip and flash bios into new chip. If you download .pat file, you can open it with Winrar, into archive you can view bios file and DSM , you can extract bios file and write them into new chip via eeprom programmer. It works if you have some soldering skills and right tools, hot air station and eeprom programmer

My cpu is Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E31220 @ 3.10GHz Thanks

Hi friends, I'm trying to install last dsm for DS3622xs+ via last TCRP into Dell Optiplex 360 with two sata disk, but disks are not recognized when I'm connecting to system. All steps for build loader went well, even satamap that shows 1 but it seems that disks are missing What o have to check? Thanks

High availibility with 2 hypervisor vm’s
Aigor replied to Hemant13579's topic in Packages & DSM Features
As far i understood you have to setup a private lan segment between both heartbeat ethernet card, you don't need to assign a ip, communication will do on layer 2 iso/osi stack Other requirement is mtu size of both cards, must be 9000 Try -
Hi friends, i'm experimenting a spk packages server, if you would like, put this http://spks.ildude.com/ Into source package, actually there are several version of openvmtools and URbackup for broadwellnk , if you want, test them and report Thanks

Redpill - extension driver/modules request
Aigor replied to pocopico's topic in Developer Discussion Room
There is already compiled open-vmtools that works as expected -
Hi, OPenvmtools seems works as expected, in normal implementation there are others kernel modules that are optional but i would like to try to add and see if are needed or not. I compiled lkm using synology source kernel, but there is an option in the kernel that cant be compiled as modules. My question is, could be possible, using redpill framework, add this option to a kernel and put this kernel with this option into pat file? For the modules could be use a pocopico extension framework to add specific modules into zImage The options are CONFIG_HYPERVISOR_GUEST=y CONFIG_SYS_HYPERVISOR=y CONFIG_VMWARE_VMCI_VSOCKETS=m CONFIG_VMWARE_BALLOON=m CONFIG_VMWARE_VMCI=m Thanks

Attached there are the files that i use to compile openvmtools with spksrc framework openvmtools.tar.gz
