Well I resolved this SN and Mac address problem (just modify vender and reboot), but I am still interested in how to re-install a working or dead xpenology pc without losing data.

C'est bon j'ai compris, une fois le vender est modifie, ceci est pris en compte immediatement apres boot, pas besoin de re-installer...

Hello, I want to modify the vendor file to fill it with my real MAC and another SN. Problem is I have already installed this 4.3 version DSM with non-modified vendor file, is there anyway to find out the real MAC address of my computer now? I know how to do it with windows but I dont want to install a windows just to check out the mac..please help. Thanks.

Bonjour, j'ai installe hier mon 1ere XPEnology, trop content. Sauf depuis que j'ai installer DS Finder sur mon android, j'arrete pas a recevoir des notification fausse, genre un probleme sur mon serveur hors mon serveur n'est meme allume. J'ai cru comprendre que ce probleme vient du fait que plusieur utilisateurs ont le meme numero de serie, et on est censee le modifier avant d'installation, mais malheureusement je ne l'ai pas fait. Comme le procedure d'installation est longue, surtout la verification des disques qui prend des heures, je cherche a savoir s'il est tjrs possible de changer ce numero sans tous re-installer pour se debarasser de ces notifications.. Merci d'avance.

Bonsoir, ta config me semble bien trop lourd pour un serveur nas/htpc. Pour instant j'ai transformer mon HTPC a un NAS juste pour tester, c'est un i3-2120+4g ram. Si un jour je suis decidement a investir dans un nas je prendrais probablement une carte mere atom genre d2550, conso bcp moin et tjrs assiz puissant pour decodage des filems 1080p. Sinon un hp proliant n54p est tres bien, il est a 190euro aujourd'hui, meme en construant un par soit meme on arrive difficilement a avoir une meme config a ce prix.

Hello I am new here, also new to nas. Since my wife forbidded me from buying any new hardware (pathetic married man who want to buy a hp n54p) so I would have to build my own server with an existing computer. What I am planning to do is to turn my htpc into a nas server. Before I do anything stupid, I would like to hear from veterans for some advise. 1. Do we still need a write protect usb drive with the new 4.3 release? (because after installation DSM will wipe out the usb drive?? Still the case?) 2. Do I risk to have my bios flashed by installing XPEnology, cause I read something like this in another hp n54p discution thread. 3. Should I install this directly or better to use a virtual machine? Will the virtual machine make the whole system lag or use more electricity? For information, my htpc is built with i3 2120(too bad not the T serials)+H61 chipset with 4G memeory, no graphic card, with an 90W external AC power. Thanks in advance.
