Backup-/Testsystem ist ein HP ML310e8 mit einem IBM-M1015 (LSI Mod) und QLogic 10G NIC...GnoBoot 10.5 DSM-5 Hauptsystem ist ein SC836 Chassis mit X8SIL-F MoBo, LSI-9201-16i HBA & QLogic 10G NIC...GnoBoot 10.5 DSM-5 Die USV ist an einem RasPi per USB angeschlossen und dieser "verteilt" die Shutdown Signale an die Storages. 10G läuft über den obersten Switch, der "mittlere" ist für die PoE Endgeräte zuständig.

wie du unter linux den stick beschreibst kann ich dir nicht sagen, da ich den win32diskimager unter windows nehme der stick muss boot-fähig sein zudem evtl. noch die "menu_alpha.lst" anpassen (weg. S/N) dann den stick einstecken, booten und bei der ERSTinstallation gnoboot.me auswählen => .pat installieren danach einfach automatisch "gnoboot.alpha" beim booten starten lassen und fertig ist das Update habe das auf meinen beiden Live-systemen so gemacht... ! nach Update evtl. noch die Berechtigungen für Ordner anpasse (war bei mir notwendig)

das mit den 2 Sticks ist einfach nur eine Vereinfachung für Leute, die das System installiere wollen und keine Tastatur/monitor angeschlossen haben => der 1. Stick nur zur Installation (gnoboot.me) => der 2. Stick immer zum Betrieb (gnoboot.alpha) In den Anleitungen sind die Änderungen beschrieben. Da ich, glücklicherweise, Systeme mit iLo oder IPKVM habe, kann ich das ganze auch mit einem Stick erledigen, indem ich einfach bei der Erstinstall gnoboot.me auswähle. Meine Systeme nutzen HBA's (LSI-9201-16i & IBM M1015 LSI IT Flash) sowie 10G NICs (QLOGIC) alles wird von Trantor's Alpha 6 (und höher) HBA sowie gnoboot 10.4 unterstützt. Beim Upgrade gab es keine Datenverluste, ich musste nur die Werde für die HBA's manuell neu eitragen (siehe viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2028&start=60). p.s. hatte beim ersten Start folgenden Fehler "Fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed" aber nach http://www.gnoboot.me/ => "workaround try disconnect any IDE drive" hat geholfen, einfach CD ROM LW im HP abgeklemmt und schon lief alles

das wäre schön, jedoch bezweifle ich folgendes: - dass die Leute es lesen, wieso denn auch selber arbeiten.. - dass die Leute die es lesen dann auch komplett verstehen, spätestens beim nächsten update ist ja bestimmt etwas anderes Ich habe so meine "Highlights" hier aus dem deutschen Form: - ich kann kein englisch => dann wird es aber Zeit es zu lernen - ich verstehe das nicht => lesen bildet, dann versteht man es auch später Gern wird im engl. Hier wird die Faulheit der Leute so richtig sichtbar, da Trantor und Gnoboot auf den jeweiligen Seiten alle unterstützten Treiber auflisten und 95% der Frage bereits mindestens 1x gestellt und beantwortet wurde. Aber das würde ja bedeuten, dass man das lesen müsste was ja wieder eigene arbeit/fleiss voraussetzt. p.s. zum Thema gnoboot und DSM5 viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2152 && viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2545 Wenn ich dieser Schritt für Schritt Anleitung folge (und etwas weiter lese, da ich auf einer nat. Maschine zuerst gnoboot.me zur installation nutzen muss => deswegen ja auch die 2.USB Sticks) [obwohl man ja auch einfach einen monitor und tastatur anschliessen könnte (alternativ wie bei mir iLo oder IPMI mit IPKVM) habe ich alle Treiber und Schritte die zur Installation notwendig sind. Wo das Passwort zu der "alpha4" zu finden ist, wurde auch hinreichend beschrieben und mit etwas Brain 1.0 Einsatz, sowie fleiss (oh nein! ich muss selber denken und arbeiten) findet man dieses auch! Die Leute hier wollen, genau wie ich, Geld sparen und ein geiles Syno System haben. Das finde ich ja klasse und helfe gerne bei richtigen Problemen. Aber wenn Leute einfach keinen Bock haben selber etwas zu machen, dann sollen sie sich doch ein org. Syno holen und können dann gerne den Syno-Support quälen.

did you actually ever did reat gnoboot's inital threat? when you go to the website http://www.gnoboot.me/p/blog-page_6.html you'll find all the supported drivers.... no wonder this forum is a mess if no one wants to read first

for me issue only happens when auto power ON....auto shutdown is fine bei mir tritt das verhalten nur beim automat. Einschalten auf, beim auto shutdown ist es ok

i used win32diskimager (host OS = win7 ultimate) to write to several usb-sticks and SD-Cards... they all booted up fine in different systems... p.s. when i want to "rewrite" the stick, sometimes i have to use diskpart to delete the volume & disk from the usb, after that writing and booting is fine

check your BIOS settings if you can't boot from it after you "burned" (better wrote) the image to the stick he's not visible to windows anymore, as he uses EXT FS...so you need to install EXT FS drivers to windows to access the stick and modify the vendor...

Wenn du unbedingt sparsam willst, dann kaufe ein org syno! das geld was du für neue hw ausgibst kannst du dann auch so ausgeben..

i agree that a stable system is more important then the latest version... currently i run at my original DS-1812+ the last 4.3 version (18TB available space only for backup) as my "new" main storage i set up a 16bay chassis which i currently have about 25 TB available space (in several volumes) here i run the last Beta7 HBA version, as it provided the drivers i needed. in my test/desaster recovey systen (hp ml310) therefore is also on last Beta 7.... I would surely donate to trantor as HIS wok saved me lots of money... but still...better have a stable version then the latest one... also let us think what do we use the system for? for me it's only storage...and of course not reachable from internet.... so my suggestion to trantor is, that he continues with his great work...and if we get the 5 release so be it.... for all who can't wait....as far as i could read...the gnooboot could be your solution...you just need to read a lot first..

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17 statt "install" im assi einfach connect...oder browser und dann die ip des gerätes.... stelle aber sicher, dass deine hdd komplett leer ist und keine partitionen drauf sind..

ohne hdd keine installation...wo soll denn das betriebssystem hin installiert werden? den usb stick brauchst du zum nur zum booten... nimm zur installation der .pat die webgui..nicht den assi...der hat einen fehler (steht auch irgendow in der engl. installanleitung) zudem musst du bei der erstinstall ein volume erstellen, da sonst keine install möglich..

did anyone forced you to install this version? i don't think so! it was your very own decision and you should have known, that this project is done by great people in THEIR!!!! spare/free time... YOU complain about yout things... so either shut up, pay the real price (for each hour they work on this project) to the people here...or go and buy the real syno.... i HATE such people... want everything for free...and always complain about others..

schreibe doch mal schritt für schritt was du wie machst.. und wo du hängen bleibst.. welche versionen nimmst du? wird xpenology direkt auf der hardware installiert oder virtuell (vm/hyper-v)? welche hardwarekonstellation nutzt du? nutze z.B. mal nur 1 hdd (mach vorher notfalls am pc mit diskpart die platte komplett nackig) und den entsprechenden usb

Du sprichst mir aus der Seele! Anscheinend vergessen hier einige, dass dieses Projekt durch freiwillige Arbeit einiger Leute in deren Freizeit entstanden ist. Jeder sollte also entweder sich ein original syno holen und kann dann den Support quälen ( den bezahlt ihr nämlich mit dem Kauf) oder man strengt sein brain 1.0 an und denkt etwas nach und liest halt in entsptechenden Foren ( besonders die englischsprachigen) Als letzte Möglichkeit bleibt natürlich noch einen Linux Spezialisten zu bezahlen, dass er einem die Arbeit und das Denken abnimmt. Aber dann kann man auch wieder ein original Syno kaufen! Just my two cents...

i do own several nas systems...it all started with an old bufallo terastation, then switched to an qnap ts_509pro (with cpu & rammod), later i got an qnap ts412 and ts119pII.... and last i got an ds1812+.....so over the years i did spent soo much money on the pre-build storages..mostly i swapped because i needed more space and didn't wanted to throw away the old drives.. ....now i did set up an 16bay 3u chassis with an decent HBA and 10gig nic for about 600-800€....running dsm in it and be happy... so my conclusion is as follows... if u need the system for business go and buy an original one...with service contract (qnap wanted to have ~600€ for a sparepart after warranty time!! that was the last time i bought qnap product) if you want to "play" around and know how to read forum and search the web for answers go for xpenology... even "old" hw is powerfull enough and if your system maybe uses more power than a new one..ok...calculate the time the new system needs to save the buying costs... so my go for future is this lovely xpenology!!

habe bei mit nur die entsprechenden stationen und das storage auf 10g umgerüstet, der rest der clients kommt wunderbar mit 1gbit zurecht...war die kostenguenstigere lösung...schau mal z.b. hier ( http://mobil.idealo.de/preisvergleich/P ... gs-1510-20 )....das Gerät hat 2x10g SFP+ ports und kostet ~ 200€

check the processes.....maybe the system is doing some background hdd/volume checks...this can take quite a long while depending on the cpu & hdd/volume size... so maybe you shouldn't reboot the system for 1-2 days... just to be sure..

i suggest you to hook up a monitor and keyboard to the HP to check the cli output...also check if the boot_device (usb) is still fine i would NOT recommend you to make any changes before you can ensure that the data is fine! so don't do any upgrades!! if you had an power outtage it could be, that your hardware is damaged.. you need to check this possibility too... (i guess you don't have an UPS connected to the storage) do you have a backup of your data (raid is NO backup), even if you don't have a backup you COULD try to use an other PC with xpenology and then plug in the drives there, this will work and you usually can access your data (it's what i did, after i had some issues with my old faulty drives in a volume, i removed the volume and plugged it into my "backup/play" server)

Hi, what do you mean with big? I have my backup/recovery xpenology set up at a HP Proliant ML 310e G8. It runs fine there, only the auto wakeup causes a bios checksum error and needs factory reset (same issue happens on my main device too.. ), auto shutdown is fine can you access the device after install via webgui? i sometimes see the same error message in the syno discovery tool, but the system is working fine. please check that first.. p.s. if you use and HBA's, maybe you also should check out the HBA version, there are some HBA's supported, while in normal version not

did you actually read this thread before? it's already supported in HBA version....
