  1. Ignorantly I just installed this on my 2 production boxes, without any testing. What could possibly go wrong, right? Wrong! Both bare metal, running DSM 5.2-5644 Update 8. Pressing the power button only made the devices disappear from the network...an that's it, no power off. Only power cycle to bring them back online. Removing or stopping the package is not possible in Package Center, it seems to freeze completely. Manually removed package via SSH, now all okay.
  2. Try other network cable, can be bad cable.
  3. Agreed if disk are only activated as expected. If however this means an on/off cycle every 20 minutes, I would nog be so sure. What we probably do agree on is that the temperatures you mention are not very healty. These should be reduced by better fan cooling.
  4. Depending on applications installed, disk hybernation may not work as expected. Plex is causing disk spin up very frequently. Better not to use it, if disk spin up every 15-20 minutes, you recuce life span of the drives.
  5. Force in the BIOS any USB-drive to harddisk emulation. Probably does the trick.
  6. Plex is most likely the reason why disks keep spinning up. In general, disk hybernation doen not work as expected, not just on Xpenology by the way. Better to switch hybernation off completely and optionally use power schedule to turn machine fully on/off. Better for life expectancy of disks.
  7. Thanks/bedankt @brantje. Found an easier solution, switched to Gen8 with iLO
  8. Does a package exist that properly reports/monitors actual CPU temps and fan speeds? Thanks for any suggestions.
  9. @dutchnas first be patient and scan network / see router if unit has ip address. If so, wait. As stated time to boot and have web portal running seems to take more time. I edited config file to force AMD boot, although should not be required
  10. Just updated to DSM 6.0.2-8451 Update 9, on N54L bare metal, using Jun 1.01 loader. Seems to work okay, but had some issues getting network up and running. Hard reset fixed this. Webpage takes longer to become available. No further issues found, all runs okay.
  11. Checked this? Make sure in BIOS setting for USB drive is on HDD-emulation, not AUTO etc.
  12. Fully remove 'sataportmap=xx' comment? See what it does? Also make sure in BIOS setting for USB drive is on HDD-emulation, not AUTO etc.
  13. I got my N54L running now. Needed to set boot menu Timeout to 5 sec, in order to see and select AMD boot option. Without selecting AMD boot, machine does not show up on network at all. Did not use any Sata port setting. Runs fine now!

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

Just upgraded my N54L. You need to ensure you delay first menu Timeout to 5 sec. so you can select the AMD boot. Just set VID and PID (and MAC/Serial if needed). No Sata port settings required.
  15. It does sound like the network drivers from Xenoboot are not fully present in Jun's build?
  16. Using Jun's v1.01 loader on my AMD-based test system (ASRock C70M1) install was smooth, no issues. Based on this I was confident to start with my main system, N54L / Turion 2.2. This was no succes unfortunatly. The box does not become visible on my network, at all! Did a few attempts, because i was unsure on correct SataPortMap=xxx setting, but I guess issue is elsewhere. Seems this machine has no serial port, is this an issue? Anybody any advice? Many thanks
  17. Build a new hardware setup, using 3 disks in total. 2 in SHR and one single. Two volumes in total. The single drive I use for downloads, Cloud Sync, Plex video etc. I now use disk hibernation set to default 20 min. DSM logs show disk become active every 30 minutes. So sleep is only 10 minutes. Questions; What is likely cause for waking every 30 minutes, without file tranfers or manual actions? Will all drives wake every time, or can this also be just one of the disks? Does it make sense to keep using disk hibernation or will it just wear the disk? Obviously hibernation is used to save energy and prolong disk life....but does it?
  18. Thanks both. Will let DSM do the job. Modded firmware installed, yes.
  19. Got myself a N54L with onboard RAID options. Selected RAID 1 in BIOS and drives are initialized. Creating volumes in DSM however does allow to select drives individually? Would expect to see one RAID-drive? What is best practice, use DSM to create soft-RAID or do use hardware-RAID of N54L? Thanks for any advice!
  20. Patch does not work, no. @markspoiss before installation, configure Packages to accept packages from other sources.
  21. Latest for Bromolow: SurveillanceStation-bromolow-7.1-4155.spk 16-Aug-2016 17:18 98M Patching this file seems to work, although giving some failed lines. However in the end no extra licenses are availeble....
  22. You can find the individual update files on the Synology site, browse to https://usdl.synology.com/download/DSM/
  23. update 1 done on 3 systems same issues as reported here on all 3 systems (bare metal); power/ups etc.
