    DSM 6.1.x Loader

dont you have a spare hard disk or usb , where you can make a new boot? deattach your disk first, create a new boot, and attach it again to be safe?
  2. hi, before i had an asrock with maibnoard n3150 , esxi 6.0 , dsm 5.2 now i have a hp microserver gen8 xeon processor, esxi 6.6 dsm 5.2 both mianboards gave the same copy result when copy large files/directorys over smb , but NO problems when running 6.02 junes loader when copying on the same host, there is no issue
  3. hi, i am reading the faq/manuals in advance i see in there will be a grub menu option 1 is baremetal, option 4 is esxi so for us esxi users, when we start the Virtual Machine, do we always need to select option 4 to start the loader? or only the first time on install? if we always need to select it, is it possible to make it default?

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

i have a question about the grub menu upon boot you can choose baremetal or esxi do you need to choose esxi when you have an exsi system? or only the first time on install? or if you have exsi, do you always need to choose exsi in the grub menu upon boot?
  6. thats indeed strange, I have the same setup as in your screenshot, the hard disk is not recognised, only the first boot when I choose sata instead of scsi, no issue
  7. ps : this issue only happens when copy a large folder, like 50 GB or something it not happens when copying like 2-5 GB
  8. tried the paravirtual setting, same behaviour after 2 mins of copying from DSM to local drive, speed drops from +- 110 MB to like 500KB and crashes copying but seems its only on the first boot of dsm, after testing again after like 10 min, the copy speed is normal again and stable too bad , i had the same behaviour on another mainboard, asrock n3150 , now i have it also on hp microserver gen8 but anyway, didnt have the issue on DSM 6 , so waiting for the new loader , hopefully this weekend, then going to migrate to 6
  9. ok, going to try that out but i was pretty sure i choose paravirtual at the first setup wizard, now i see its LSI logic also tried dsm 6 now, the issue is gone on dsm 6 but i want it to work also on 5.2 , going to try out this weekend, thnx for the tip

Why not leave it as sata disk?

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

I resolved it by adding a sata disk in esx, before i did choose scsi...
  12. yes i addded the drives always with scsi now i added the virtual disk as sata, and it started installing the PAT file
  13. See my post here viewtopic.php?p=82392#p82392 It doesn't use this tool but it's easy to deploy and use. Hi Koroziv, I already tried your image while reading this topic and just tried it again. I always get "Failed to format the disk. (35)" error. I added different types of (virtual) HDDs SCSI/IDE and different controller types but I get the same error. I used latest pat from Synology. having same issue, how did you resolv this? i am guessing the PAT install tries to install on bootimage and not on the new added virtual hard disk / rdm ...

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

hi i did a clean install on esxi 6.5 hp gen8 after opening the vm, adding a new harddisk 100gb ssd, upon first boot, i can connect to the webinterface, i select the part file to install but it gives me error 35 , format disk error... i think the installer tries to format the boot disk, and not the new added disk ... how can i make sure the pat installation goes to the new disk instead of the bootdisk? thnx
  15. extra info followed this guide: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3132 i am using AHCI mode and mapped RDM files for my disks
  16. Hi, when running dsm 5.2 on esxi systems, the copy speed is terrible slow for example if i copy over like 100 gb over gb network, it starts good at like 110MB / sec, but after a few min , it drops to 5 MB and eventually windows stops copying changing from e1000 to vmxnet doesnt make any difference running on baremetal, then there is no issue what are the tweaks for this copy speed? to make it normal ? i had an asrock mainboard, now i switched to hp gen 8 microserver (xeon model) thnx
  17. if i buy this one? https://www.startech.com/nl/Kaarten-Per ... t~PEXSAT32 or http://www.sybausa.com/index.php?route= ... uct_id=156 (4 port one) => marvell chipset, not sure if its working on dsm 5.2 ? https://www.startech.com/be/nl/Kaarten- ... EXESAT322I => asmedia asm1061 , after googling should work on dsm its a 2 port, according to specs its a pci express 2.0 x1 , should be working on my motherboard will this be working on my xpeonology and esxi without adding drivers and stuff? thnx so i have the smart status then ?
  18. can you show me a compatible hba card? with 2-4 ports? i have now mapped raw lun ports, using virtual rdm, like in this guide post 1 : viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3132 , is that what you mean? do you mean by , my mainboard supports it, you mean the slot?, i have a - 1 x PCI Express 2.0 x1 Slot do all card are recognized by the esxi later on ? as a passthrough ? thnx
  19. i have this maiboard : http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/N3150DC-ITX/ it seems it have a pci express slot can i buy a cheap raid controller for that pci express, so it can passthrough the smart status? thnx in advance
  20. hi decided to install esxi on my asrock n3150 , installed xpenology after reading threads, its impossible to send smart status to xpenlogy, since raid controll on my mainboard is not capable so how can i send email alerts on disk status? i have a backup system now, but whats the advantage of backup if you cant check hard disk status
  21. hi, i have my xpenology running on hyper-v, i know smart is not compatible but how can i check my disk from time to time now? thnx
