  1. DSM 6 + ESXi 6.5 + Supermicro X10SL7-F

Has anyone been able to solve this? VMdirectpath Passthrough of HP SATA/SAS controller. I'm trying to do the same. HP GEN8 P420 controller passthrough (vmdirectpath) is enabled. DSM does not see any (4xWD Red) drives.
  2. HP Microserver Gen 8 Install fails

Built New VM with XPEnoboot 5.2-5644.5 Added P420 to VM as passthrough device - ( 4 2TB drives ea configured as RAID 0 ) Installation Halts at: ... loading module hpsa [busy] - (Fan goes to 100% and I am unable to Force any action through vSphere client) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: 1. HPSA is supported in 5.2.5644.5 2. Removed P420 from VM as passthrough device and install suceeds 3. iLO Reports HBA and all Drives are good ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hardware: HP MicroServer GEN8 BIOS____________ JO6 RAM_____________HP 16GB CPU_____________Intel Xeon E3-1260L MicroSD _________Sandisk 32GB________ESXi 6.0 HBA Controller____HP O/B_B120i__ACHI Mode Disk-4 HDD_______Seagate 120GB SLE SSD______100GB VM-Datastore Controller________"HP Smart Array_P420 1GB v6.68 4 logical drives" Disk-0 RAID-0_____WD RE4 2TB__Independent Data Disk-1 RAID-0_____WD RE4 2TB__Independent Data Disk-2 RAID-0_____WD RE4 2TB__Independent Data Disk-3 RAID-0_____WD RE4 2TB__Independent Data /With backup going to and identical system (not built yet).
  3. Logged into DiskStation ( ESXi VM ) >root >pswd DiskStation> find /* | grep "grub.conf" DiskStation> returned nothing
  4. 2 MicroServers I have ESXI 5.5 installed on a 16GB MicroSD in an HP GEN8 Microserver, my VMs ( Xpenology ) reside on a standalone hard drive and data is in a separate volume also. now trying to figure out how to change the MAC Address and Serial number in the 2 Xpenology boxes I have built so they don't conflict on my network. 1. /volumeUSB1 is empty 2. No vendor file 3. cant find grub.conf ( trying to mount vdmk to see if in can get to it. not shur what to do though ) ----------------------------------------- Equipment HP MicroServer GEN 8 RAM____________ HP 16GB CPU____________ Intel G1610T MicroSD ________ Sandisk 16GB________ESXi 5.5 OS Controller_______SATA __B120i__ACHI Mode Disk-0 HDD___________WD RE4 2TB__Independent Data Disk-1 HDD___________WD RE4 2TB__Independent Data Disk-2 HDD___________WD RE4 2TB__Independent Data Disk-3 HDD___________WD RE4 2TB__Independent Data Disk-4 HDD___________Seagate 500GB______50GB VM-Datastore Any help you be greatly appreciated.
  5. HP Proliant GEN 8 Microserver, No Drives

I get as far as the /volumeUSB1 directory but it has no contents. 6. HP Proliant GEN 8 Microserver, No Drives

Figured it out With the hardware set to my 1st config - B120i controller, each drive independent Raid 0. ( I know, This controller has weird settings ) - ESXi loads off the 16GB MicroSD. Expenology loads from the VM-Datastore But no drives/volumes were showing up in DSM The problem was The ' VM setup ' kept switching the SCSI Controller back to "LSI Logic SAS', So after saving the initial VM configuration, I went back into settings and changed the controller to Paravirtual and Physical Then, I needed to mount the physical drives through RDM but they were not taking with the " t10.ATA.**** " links. Example: vmkfstools -z /vmfs/devices/disks/"t10.ATA.__________________52ebd00000000000000000000 RDM0-WD2DWCAY00000000.vmdk -a lsilogic So I tried the vml.000**** links: Example: vmkfstools -z /vmfs/devices/disks/vml.0200000000600508b1001c1152ebd00000000000000000000 RDM0-WD2DWCAY00000000.vmdk -a lsilogic and those stuck. Now Both Diskstations run. ================================================================================================================================================ I am now trying to figure out how to change the MAC Address and Serial number in the 2 Xpenology boxes I have built so they don't conflict on my network. The 4.3 build image gives the same MAC to every installation so these will not work on the same network till I figure this out. Environment: Equipment HP MicroServer GEN 8 RAM____________ HP 16GB CPU____________ Intel G1610T MicroSD ________ Sandisk 16GB________ESXi 5.5 OS Controller_______SATA __B120i__ACHI Mode Disk-0 HDD___________WD RE4 2TB__Independent Data Disk-1 HDD___________WD RE4 2TB__Independent Data Disk-2 HDD___________WD RE4 2TB__Independent Data Disk-3 HDD___________WD RE4 2TB__Independent Data Disk-4 HDD___________Seagate 500GB______50GB VM-Datastore Any help you be greatly appreciated.
  7. [SOLVED] Install on vmware ESXI

I did choose that option ... Post or PM me your VMX file (about 3Kb in size) ... I'm sure I'll then easily spot the configuration difference. Otherwise, the only other option is that the machine you're running ESXi on has some other failure (hardware, or virtualization failure). Tuatara I have run out of options. My DSM does not see any Disks, Volues VM loads and DSM runs, But no storage devices of any kind in Storage Manager. Build 4.3 v1.1 Config: HP Proliant Gen 8 16gb DDR Intel G1610 CPU 4 x WD-RE4 RDM's Separate SCSI Channel Would you look at my VMX? Thanks Synology-DiskStation.zip

When I get into Storage Manager all tabs are empty. 1. SHR never started 2. In Storage Manager, No Volumes are listed, No Drives are Present VM 3. Change Log 1.00 Went back into settings and SCSI controller type was set to Bus Logic. - Changed SCSI controller type back to Paravirtual Physical. -no success 2.00 Changed it back to Paravirtual Virtual. -no success 3.00 Changed SCSI ID to 0:2, 0:3, Can login but no Web Desktop, Web Assistant displays "No Hard Disk Found" ( changing SCSI ID's back ) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Questions 1. Do I need to initialize the drives or format them before the installation? 2. What am I missing? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would like to say thanks up front. The Xpenology community, this site has been a great resource for getting my DiskStation setup. - Lisa
