  1. I try with a usb boot, but can't go more (Doesn't work). So my next step is to remove the GPU and replace it by a cheap one. If not working, try with cd boot (i remove the cd from this system after add a 5 Hdd hot swap tray. But the system not working when I disable the on board nic, and install the 3C905 nic card Envoyé de mon SM-T560NU en utilisant Tapatalk
  2. I just notice this post. Thanks for you're help, but it's not seem to work (i try each lzma). So i found an old 3C905 PCI card at work (i was in vacation last week), so i add it to the computer for testing purpose only, and disable the on-board LAN. Then edit the Grub file to add the MAC adress of the 3COM, and reboot (i test these 2 files, and the original one). Same result, can't be detected. The only thing that work for me now is the VMWare Workstation loader on this computer... I was expecting the LAN CARD driver, but it's not seem to be the case (i was wrong), so it's something else ! So i get to the BIOS, and disable all core of the CPU, except Core 1 and 2 (so now, i have a 2 CORE CPU), and re-perform the test with the 3C905 card... same result, not working. So i de-activate the SVM (because i remember that i set this option to ON because i'm using VmWare on this computer). No result (cant find it with the Synology Assistant or the web) Now, the next test i think i will do, is to change the video card (it's a hudge nVidia Card) with a cheap basic one... I try to install uBuntu from a USB stick and it didn't work, so my next bet is the GPU ! Now, i reboot in Win10, and start the VM (i actually use the VM version). Anyone know if i connect a USB UPS to the VM, is the VMWare version of Synology will see it ?
  3. Didn't work. Now i'm downloading UBuntu 64 and 32 bits to test it.. very slow to download ! But i order an Intell Pro 100 BT nic card, so hope this one will work
  4. I think i did that. I use the Jun loader 1.01 But i notice this on the Asus motherboard spec : Gigabit Realtek[emoji768] 8111E optimize fir the Ai NET2 technology Think i will find another nic for testing... Intel Pro 1000 GT or PT My server actually run Win 10 + VmWare Pro (with the Jun loader 1.01). When I test it, i simply remove the sata connector of the win10 installation (internal SSD). I test it for fun! (already own a DS410 and DS212J).... But if i can make it work stable for a long period of time, probably i will switch Envoyé de mon SM-T560NU en utilisant Tapatalk
  5. I'm trying to install the JUN V1.01 (because it's the one who support AMD) on this system : Motherboard : Asus M4A89TD Mem : 16 Go CPU : AMD FX(tm)-8150 Eight-Core Processor at 3612 MHz (x 8) GPU : GForce GTX 770 LAN : RTL8111E The loader boot, but i can't ping it. And there is no verbose on the screen.... Something tell me it's the onboard NIC card that is not supported... (My card are shown in V5.2 of the loader, but i only see RTL8150.ko on the list included in the LZMA file) I set my PID/VID, MAC and Serial # So am i on the right assumption ? (NIC not compatible) If yes, which NIC card (available for purchase) are supported ? Is all Broadcom are ? (i see Broadcom.ko in the list)

In my case, i set the IP from my router with the MAC adress... So if i cant ping it, find.synology won't work. Envoyé de mon SM-T560NU en utilisant Tapatalk

Yes I did it. Check fiew post, i describes what I did. If you want your vm to autoboot, create a batch file with "vmware - x yourvmfile". I store 1 VMK / disk. So if one disk fails, i add a new one, and recreate the missing vmk Envoyé de mon SM-T700 en utilisant Tapatalk I read all your other posts but didn't see how you boot it up on VMWare Workstation. Once again, do I need an iso or just download img file to boot from it? Thanks. Sorry, i didn't mention that. The first page of this thread, there is a link for the VmWare boot (the vmware boit file). So you download this file, and open it from vmware. Then you edit the vmware device and add some disk, and your all set! ESXi does not support VM booting from USB. You can work around the issue with "plop boot manager". Basically, you use CDROM iso as a boot drive in your VM, which then points to the USB stick. I am not sure it's worth the trouble. If you want to edit the config file on the VM, you can just do that, there's no need to use a USB image as a work around. Dynax, great to hear your advice again! In fact I came across plop boot manager just now and got it running. Now my DSM is running as I wanted! Superb stuff that is. Main reason to use this method is that without booting from USB, I get the 50MB HDD issue I mentioned previously, and that kind of bugged me not working like a bare bone would. Though not sure if I was the only one who faced that problem with Gen8+esxi as I have not seen anyone talks about it, maybe everyone use a Gen8 with bare bone. The only niggle I still have is that when using plop boot manager I have to manually select "USB" from the menu, as any settings such as auto countdown, floppy disabling, etc would not saved (far as I understand it is due to the nature of "CD/DVDs" could not be edited and saved, hence any altered settings would not save for next boot). Would be great if there is a way to fix this small thing, perhaps edit the iso would do the trick. i will look into that anyway, but if anyone got some previous experience on this, I would greatly appreciate some words too. Common guys cant wait for one to confirm the above - holding back couse of my lack of experience- Hope some one who knows if I preb. the USB with the latest boot image ver. 1.0.1 and install the DSM 6.0.2 over DSM 5.2-5644 will it merge my existing data on the HD and I can continue where I left off when it was on DSM 5.2 ? PC= lenovo M700 tiny. Test i did : I build a VM with XPEnoboot_DS3615xs_5.2-5967.1, and install the latest compatible version of DSM. Then, i create 4 disk of 10 Go, and use RAID5 to create 1 volume. I copy fiew thing inside the Volume (2630 files, 265 folder, 4.3 Go). Now it's time to "upgrade"... So i shutdown the VM (in fact, shutdown the NAS from the web interface), then i copy all new file from BootLoader V1.01, edit the VM setting and manually added existing VMDK (Disk1 to 4) ... In the non-VmWorld.. it's like create a new USB drive, and boot from it ! Then i use the "", Click on "install" and "migration", and manual install the new version of DSM (dowloaded from Synology Website). Once reboot, i log into the new NAS. My old password was still working ! And the "Test" folder i create inside was still there ! I did that because when i update my DS410 from DSM4 to DSM5, it change a lot (like the file format from ext2or3 to ext4). I was thinking that i lost all of my data... but it was not the case, the Volume was still there. Only lost all setting from the NAS (username, installed package,...). So i re-create the username, then added to me the right to see all Shared folder that was not visible ... and everyhting return to normal !

I test this new leader in my VmWare workstation (latest), and it wirk fine! I test these 2 setup (on a Asus motherboard, AMD 8 core cpu, 16Go ram, windows 10 on SSD, Antec casing with lot of cooling and Icydock hdd cage) : Direct attach the HDD to the VM - allows direct configuration from synology of the HDD - can't see SMART info (of course, its VMware disk) - let DSM manage the RAID - Can't set Autoboot VM with this configuration - Can see the Synology partition created on the disk by synology Create a hudge VMDK / physical disk - Autoboot VM supported - Can't see the Synology partition created on the disk. During my test i only created 9 Gb VMSK... So total space was very low, because of the other partition. In the second configuration, i simulate the lost of a drive (delete the VMDK file), and then recreate another one. Work perfectly! So it's robust enough to replace damaged disk. But i need a HDD monitor solution (to read SMART info), so i can proactively change defective HDD... Any ideas? Of course, if i use a bootloader, no VmWare, this is probably resolved, but my AMD not seem working yet (probably because of the GPU card? NVidia GTX 680) Currently, i have a DS410 with 4x 3TB, + 1 DS210J. I mirror important data between them each Friday. Envoyé de mon SM-T700 en utilisant Tapatalk
