  1. Hi,

I've run the upgrade smoothly. Previously I was running on DSM 6.0. I've just prepared the USB stick with Alpha loader, change it with old one, boot up the server and it worked like a charm.

Only issue I've had was, when I've downloaded .img file and tried to modify it, system tells me file is corrupt. So then, I've took WIN32DiskImager, burned .img as it was on USB and than modified grub.cfg file with correct SN, vid and pid and mac addresses///

  2. Hi Guys,

I've successfully upgraded my bare metal Microserver Gen8 with new Jun's Loader 1.02alpha. Upgrade was smooth and pretty straight forward without any issues. I am running on it around one week and I am experiencing no issues at all comparing to 6.02. I didn't tried BTRFS yet...but not this I want do discuss...

I found out an issue with one package...MariaDB...after DSM upgrade, I've upgraded package MariaDB to the most recent version 5.5.53-0073 Upgrade of package went smooth but It cannot start the service. I am not able to start it manually. Just a message Failed to run package service....damn...log is empty in package manager...when I logged into DSM via SSH, /var/log/messages tells me this:

    ...what a hell is:

    1. Failed to get license from database - WTF???

    2. /var/packages/MariaDB/target/ui/index.conf [err: No such file or directory] - where this directory is there and exists WTF2

    Please any advice is appreciated....

  3. Hi guys,

may I ask you for an advice which setting you have enabled in BIOS under sata controller option? I've got enabled embedded raid controller, everything is working fine, but in iLO i can see disks connected to standard IDE controller. Its is OK in regards of speed? Don't I need to switch bios setting for SATA AHCI controller?

    Thank you so much....

PS: On second microserver where I am running esxi just as lab, I've enabled SATA ahci controller and iLO and esxi sees it as Cougar 6port SATA controller so thats I am not sure what happen with juns loader when I change this setting to SATA ahci controller....

PS2: I am running on Juns loader

  4. Hi Guys,

may I ask you for a lil help. I am really noob on this field. I'd like to have additional SATA controller card for 2xSATA for my HP Microserver Gen8. I know there is an ODD position for SSD but I want to have 2 additional SSDs and use them as write cache. Can you recommend me product which will fit into microserver and will work with Jun's loader I am currently running on?

    Thank you so much.

  5. Guys, can you share, if anyone got, .PAT file DSM update 6 or 7 or 8? I need to reinstall it and dont want to use latest update 9 which is causing the troubles....

    Thank you...

  6. Hi Quicknick...i dont want to be a pain in the a..i have a two questions:

    2. Will be SATA controller Marvell SE9172 supported? I'd like to avoid buying new MOBO  :)

    2. Marvell storage is built into OEM kernel.

Unfortunatly partially only ... as SAS/e-Sata Marvell with port multiplier (FIS) is not implemented into OEM ... Still only FreeNAS as fully supporting (for NAS emulation, as Ubuntu etc. implement well the standard FIS port multiplier protocol)

Thats what I afraid of....also on 5.2 build my two marvel ports are disabled because they causing an issues to xpen...i'd like to really use them but apparently I need to start thinking of new MOBO....

  7. Hi Quicknick...i dont want to be a pain in the a..i have a two questions:

    1. How long should we wait for upgrade procedure?? Approximately....days, weeks, months?? Or we just have to use juns boot loader and do the upgrade. Not sure if i should wait or start screwing my own stuff  :) btw...very very thx for your great work

    2. Will be SATA controller Marvell SE9172 supported? I'd like to avoid buying new MOBO  :)

BIG THX MAN...YOU ROCKS...and Merry Christmas

  8. I also have it running on bare metal on an HP Probook 6550b I upgraded from 5.2 with the img from page 23 posted by dynax

can you confirm that everything is running properly? Which PAT file you use for manual upgrade..or automatic upgrade to latest DSM?

  9. Guys,
