Nein natürlich nicht. Aber soweit ich weiß kannst du kein datastore über USB einbinden. Kartenleser hab ich glaub ich was gehört, bzw Soweit ich mich entsinne waren diese über IDE und compactflash... Glaub aber nicht das diese so Performant sind da vielleicht ein größeres so darauf laufen zu lassen außer vielleicht ein kleines Linux... Alternativ, weiß aber nicht ob dann die hibernation funktioniert, xpenology auf die von mir beschriebene Weise einbinden, iscsi und dieses als datastore einbinden... Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk

Hallo Christian, Schön einen Gleichgesinnten zu treffen [emoji1]. Ja das hast du richtig verstanden. Zu 1.) Es gibt die Möglichkeit mit Plop ein Custom iso zu erstellen in dem dann automatisch von USB gebootet wird. Dadurch das man den Controller inkl. Der Festplatten durchreicht werden die Smartwerte auch komplett angezeigt. Nachteil dieser Methode, was ich zumindest bis jetzt herausgefunden habe... Open vm Tools erkennen das NAS nicht als vm. Man muss dieses beim herunterfahren oder Neustarten des esxi davor entweder manuell oder per Script von einer anderen vm (wenn diese herunterfährt) herunterfahren lassen. Mit dem shutdownscript von einer anderen VM habe ich zwar angefangen mich ein zu lesen, habe es aber auch noch nicht umgesetzt. Wenn hier jemand eine Idee oder Lösung hat Hör ich sie mir gern an [emoji6] Ich habe 4x 3TB Seagate 3000DM001 drin. Bei mir hat sich mein SHR RAID verabschiedet. Hat mir defekte Sektoren gemeldet. Nach Prüfung aller Platten konnte ich dies aber nicht feststellen... Mit RAID 5 (direkt) läuft es erstmal fehlerfrei... Ich tippe eher auf Kompabilitätsprobleme vom SHR mit dem Controller oder den Festplatten. Kannst dich ja nochmal melden wie es bei dir voran geht. Grüße Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk

Ansich sollte die Installation unter VMWare Workstation Funktionieren (ich habe aber leider keine Workstation...) Soweit ich es aber nachlesen konnte, kann die Workstation wohl nur SSD´s durchreichen und keine HDD´s oder PCI Kontroller... MfG

resolved: To all who want to build a similar project ... The key is that you are installing on the ESXI not with virtual hard disks based (nanoboot + data memory). But packs a Native installation in a VM. With the tool Plop Boot Manager 5.0, you can create a Live CD with which you can start Nanoboot from a real USB stick. So you created the VM as in an installation as normal hardware. Create a Image with Live Plop Boot Manager, to launche automatically from a USB stick 1 Create Nano boat on USB Stick 2 Connect USB Stick with Nanoboot to VM 3 Passtrugh disks to the VM 4 Set up boot sequences in VM Bios on CD Image 5 remove USB stick either manually or by script from the DS and behold, the spin down of HDD's Now works in a VM fine.

Gelöst: An alle die ein ähnliches Projekt aufbauen möchten... Das entscheidende ist das man die Installation unter dem ESXI nicht mit Virtuellen Festplatten aufbaut (Nanoboot + Datenspeicher). Sondern quasi eine Native Installation in eine VM packt. Mit dem Tool Plop Boot Manager 5.0 kann man eine Live CD erstellen mit welcher man Nanoboot von einem USB Stick starten kann. Man erstellt also die VM wie in einer Installation wie bei normaler Hardware. 1. Image mit Live Plop Boot Manager erstellen mit dem automatisch von einem USB Stick gestartet werden kann 2. Nanoboot auf USB Stick erstellen 3. USB Stick mit Nanoboot an VM anbinden 3. Festplatten per Passthrue an die VM durchreichen 4. Bootreihenfolgen in VM Bios auf CD Image einrichten 5. USB Stick entweder manuel oder per Script aus der DS entfernen und siehe da, der Spindown der HDD´s Funktioniert nun auch in einer VM.

I use Seagate ST3000DM001, but i tried it also on wd RE500GB and WD1TB Black. Everytime the same thing. But i have already 4 x 3TB and to buy again new Drives... This will be a little bit expensive. I heard that the build in Spindown in a disk ist not so good if you want to run a raid... My Idea is that i pass the hole controller that the xpe can manage the disk´s by himself... Maybe this is a Nanoboot Problem? Linke i siad: xpe native installation can spindown all harddrives. On the Marvel controller an on the internal Mainboard controller...

What I Tried: XPenology natively -> Spin Down Works with internal controller and Marvel SATA controller Different versions of ESXI 5.1 and 5.0 -> SATA controller passed through to VM -> same problem under a Windows operating system -> SATA controller passed through to VM -> spindown works It must be a driver problem in XPEnology in conjunction with the ESXI... Please help!

Ok was ich nun noch selbst Probiert habe: XPenology nativ -> Spindown Funktioniert mit internem Kontroller und Marvel SATA Kontroller Unterschiedliche ESXI Versionen 5.1 und 5.0 -> SATA Kontroller durchgereicht an VM -> gleiches Problem unter einem Windows Betriebssystem -> SATA Kontroller durchgereicht an VM -> Spindown Funktioniert Es muss anscheinend ein Treiberproblem sein im XPEnology in Verbindung mit dem ESXI... Bitte dringend um Hilfe!

Hello community, I have the following problem. I have successfully installed DMS 5.0-4493U2 on my ESXI / Hypervisor 5.1. I configured it with a PCIe SATA controller "Digitus DS-30104-1" (with MARVELL 88SE9230 chipset) wich is passed through to the VM XPenology via vT-d passthrough. Everything works first very good and all hard drives are recognized. My problem is that I would like the disks to use spin-down function. I've also read that just needs to get out at a native installation the USB stick. But what do i have to do in my Case? The "USB Stick" is in my case a VM HDD. I hope you can help me.
