    DSM 6.1.x Loader

Hi. Just opgraded my test server, to 6.1 (Intel S1200BTL Board), Network working fine, and also, Jumbo Frames works perfect, it didn't work on 1.0.1. Very happy about it working now now I can try Clustering. I also have issue with Broadcom Nic's, don't show up in DSM Thanks for your great work June.

@Jun Hi. It seems like a lot of people use LSI 9211 or LSI 2308, me included. Can you please make a Version on RS18016xs+, so we can try if native LSI SAS support works? Or if that doesn't work please make one with the drivers for LSI 9211. Thank you.

I did see that on ESXI. Are you running virtual or bare metal? what network adapter are you using?

Can you elaborate a bit on that, what do you mean by "establish the PCI" ? Just that official devices have a predetermined set of pci devices that must be present in order for the system to work. On a generic machine, these do not exist in the same way or with the same IRQ etc. Apparently the PCI devices must be modified by the patcher which means understanding the pci devices required and then altering the loader to make them appear as they would in an official device; once this is done then I think it would load. I don't know which module Jun has created to patch so I can't see what he has done yet, hoping to find out soon Sounds good, thanks for the explanation. Looking forward to any news

After reviewing the RS3617xs vs RS18016 models for SAS and HBA's, I think the RS3617xs model is best suited to go after. It also has mp2tsas and mpt3sas drivers compiled for it out of the box. Not to mention it is their current flagship that won't dissappear for a while. Sent from my SM-N930T using Tapatalk I'm nut sure that I agree that the RS3617xs is the one to user for native SAS support. Just to be clear, I have no idea about the code, or if they have mp2tsas drivers but on Synology's comparability guide, it's only RS18016xs+, RC18015xs+ and RS10613xs+ that supports SAS. The RS3617xs might be newer, but the RS18016xs+ costs twice as much. They both use the same CPU.

That sounds great, thank you. I'll try and give that a go tomorrow.

I believe you have to replace the image as the rackmounts have a different image which needs to run. I'm going to have a play later with redoing the bootloader using the image from the RS as if the kernel patch works for the DS series it should also work for the RS with the right files. This will not only give native LSI SAS support but also proper drive numbering using the LSI SAS cards too which you can't do right now due to the way LSI work. That would be great !!! Just fyi, it's not all the RS versions that are sas compatible, as far as I can find on synology's page, it's only these: RS18016xs+, RC18015xs+ and RS10613xs+, where the RS18016xs+ is the most up-to-date one. Is it possible to find these files on the web, or do we need some one with access to a RS18016xs+? Thanks.

Hi Jun. Would it be possible to make a RS18016xs+ Version? This one have SAS Support, and should support the LSI-9211 card. Is it easy to change this my self? I tried changing DS3615xs to RS18016xs+ in the grub.cfg file, but no luck. Thank you very much for this great boot image.

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

I have tested the synoboot.img on a Intel s1200btl Motherboard (Bare metal), and everything worked perfectly out of the box. ISCSI working, Both FILE and Block level. (I could not get this to work on ESXI) Jumbo Frames, also worked fine. (Also not working on ESXI) So all in all a very good and stable experience. But, the one thing I could not get to work is the LSI-9211 in IT mode, this would be great to have support for both in Bare Metal and VM's, I also see other asking for this Thank you very much for this great build.

Any one got ISCSI working? I can't seem to get it to work on vmware workstation v12 VM. Nither file og Block level are working, Otherwise all other I have testet are working. Nice work, thank you.
  12. Do you see it in Synology Assistant? if so you can edit network settings there.
  13. Can you Ping The nas? Did you have a static ip? What version are you running? Do you have Jumbo frames set on your switch?
  14. I'm not 100 % sure, as I have overwritten the USB, but I'm fairly sure that it was NanoBoot 5.0.4
  15. I can confirm that I can use intel and marvell 9230 in AHCI mode without any issues When marvell 9172 is disabled. But, I did some more testing I have now tried all configs that I could think of, and I only found One middle ground, Marvell SE9172+Intel C2750 SATA3 Don't Mix. But they Did all work in Nanoboot. I used 5.2-5644.1 for testing. SE9230+SE9172 = Working SE9230+C2750 SATA2+C2750 SATA3 = Working SE9172+C2750 SATA3 = NOT Working SE9230+SE9172+C2750 SATA2+C2750 SATA3 = NOT Working SE9230+SE9172+C2750 SATA2 = Working C2750 SATA2+C2750 SATA3 = Working C2750 SATA3 = Working C2750 SATA2 = Working SE9172 = Working SE9230 = Working I didn't find any indications that IDE or AHCI made any difference. So to sume up, when I enable Marvell SE9172 and the two SATA3 ports on the Intel C2750 Controller at the same time, I get this boot hang issue "=trigger device plug event=" Hope this helps.
