    [SOLVED] Install on vmware ESXI

    You might have been hacked. Update to a higher version
  3. I am using the default MAC address and serial number in this build for ESXi. I am getting sudden and frequent shutdown of the VM but not ESXi And possible reason for that ?
  4. For trying out HA ...... I tried on 3202, the passive DSM is giving out errors .... anyone successful in HA ?
  5. For trying out HA ...... I tried on 3202, the passive DSM is giving out errors. but with 3810, it seems like the active DSM cannot communicate to the passive at all .........
  6. went thru all the post in this thread. but seems no one mention they can do the HA (High Availability) functions. I tried but no luck, anyone has a success story to share ?

    XpEnology High Availability

    Still can't get HA working in ESXi .......
  8. I did the same today, it is working fine with my 2 N54L machines with ESXi, but I still cannot get HA working. I am suspecting the problem comes from the NIC MAC, it might need to be the real NIC MAC. but N54L might not be able to pass thru the real NIC MAC all the way to the VM. I don't know how to do that. .......

    XpEnology High Availability

    I tried ESXi. 2 DSM run on 2 different ESXi boxes. I got some different log messages, but I don't know if those are critical ( caused by ESXi ) ============ Jan 2 01:56:10 DSM-43-AA ha.cgi: net_wol_enable.c:110 Cannot get current wake-on-lan settings Jan 2 01:56:10 DSM-43-AA ha.cgi: net_wol_enable.c:176 Failed to set wake-on-lan eth2 g Jan 2 01:56:10 DSM-43-AA ha.cgi: ha.cc:1666 Failed to set Wake on Lan 2 Jan 2 01:56:10 DSM-43-AA ha.cgi: net_wol_enable.c:110 Cannot get current wake-on-lan settings Jan 2 01:56:10 DSM-43-AA ha.cgi: net_wol_enable.c:176 Failed to set wake-on-lan eth3 g Jan 2 01:56:10 DSM-43-AA ha.cgi: ha.cc:1666 Failed to set Wake on Lan 3 Jan 2 01:56:10 DSM-43-AA kernel: [ 3992.332923] synobios_ioctl: SYNOIO_SET_AUTO_POWERON Jan 2 01:56:10 DSM-43-AA ha.cgi: external_auto_power_on_set.c:70 set auto poweron fail Jan 2 01:56:10 DSM-43-AA ha.cgi: ha.cc:4689 failed to clear rtc schedule poweron Jan 2 01:56:10 DSM-43-AA ha.cgi: ha.cc:1734 Failed to disable schedule power on and off.     [SOLVED] Install on vmware ESXI

    I downloaded the VMDF file from ESXi datastore onto PC, then I use a hex editor to change the MAC address and serial number in the vmdk. then I uploaded back to the datastore, and I bootup the VM. I can see from the Synology assistant that my VM has the modified serial number and MAC address. but when I check inside the VM by bring out the system info, I have a blank serial number, do I need any more edit ?

    [SOLVED] Install on vmware ESXI

    Idha, I think you mean 2 VM on a ESXi of a N54L (since you cannot install 2 ESXi into 1 machine). 1 VM is Xpenology another VM with an OS that runs XBMC N54L does not support directpath i/o. But there are other succss stories about using a low cost (low energy is the main reason) display card that can be used from VM (forget if that is windows) and output to TV via HDMI. You can check more. Thank you So I will have to use a 'normal', and not so flexible, install : 1 native OS (with xbmc installed) that hosts a VM for XPenology ... Do you have some advice about Native OS (Linux, Win8.1, WHS2011 ?) and VM technology (Virtual Box, Hyper-V, Workstation, ?) to use in order to get 'honorable' disk performances ? Thank you for all your answers ldha sorry I have not tried myself for other OS with XBMC, but I guess Linux would not be a bad choice because I have read a lot of successful stories of Linux and XBMC, but not with Windows .....

    [SOLVED] Install on vmware ESXI

    believe changing the MAC addresses is the first step. I tried with 2xN54L and both are on ESXi 5.1 I did change the MAC addresses, but I got this error message "operation failed. Please re-login and try again" after confirming the HA name and addressess.
  15. Great build Thx ================= I managed to changed the MAC and serial number of the vmdx file of the 2nd N54L installation. But when I do a HA setup sync, it error out with "operation failed, please re-logon and retry again" any idea ?
