    DSM 6.2 Loader

wher is the default extra file? ihave seen it being mentioned a couple of times. just can't seem to find it.
  2. this is great to know. thanks
  3. I thought "reset" would let you keep the media/files untouched. a re-install will wipe the drive clean. Am I correct, similar to factory reset. I would also appreciate there can be a true "reset" button.
  4. This is probably why I was never able to get it to work with Asrock N3150 motherboard. Can some help add the drivers?
  5. Try enable "any publisher: under package center>settings>trust level
  6. What does network detection issues mean? Did you see the kernel logs to be able to state that? For DS916p to work you need the adequate hardware, and by adequate hardware I mean the CPU should be a braswell processors, 4th Gen Core processor or later. See here >>> viewtopic.php?f=2&t=20216&start=2530#p98458 I have an Asrok N3150B-ITX with realtek RTL811GR chip. burned the DS916 image to a formated USB, known work well, modified VPI and PID, kept the mac and SN. It appeared have booted, but undetectable on network, Router and Synology assist. It is a braswell CPU. It appears to be the network card not being detected. I can tell it is booted by trying to press the power button. If is booted, you have to hold the power button for a few seconds to shut down. It is not booted, touching the button briefly is enough to shut it off.

I dont know all the differences. What I do know is their CPU artitech is different. 3617xs uses broadwell, while 3615xs uses Braswell. Some packages are CPU specific, for example TVheadend. you have to choose the right package to install. I dont think there is a package available for broadwell.
  8. Th first question has solution in the original Jun's thread. Somewhere. Someone recompiled recompiled file, all you need to do is to extract it to the root directory and let the folders merge with existing ones. It works.

It is supported. I tried it on a supermicro C2758 mini itx board wit C2000 /i354. I had no problem. It was jun's original version. I did not try the latest though.

I remember there were a couple of users reporting that specific Intel network card is not supported. ?210 or something.

A few tips for those who can't get Jun's loader work properly. 1, try different USB flash drive. I noticed some "crappy" ones are not working. 2, use proper software to burn the image. win32 imager works, rufus does not. However, rufus is okay with arcao or setsunakawa's loader. 3, use a good text editor to edit the grub.conf file. Notpad++ is okay. 4, you may to manually power cycle the NAS by unplug the power cord 5, last thing try to format USB drive before burning. This may not matter that much.

Thanks for the quick reply. I mistated. I was trying to setup my wife's iphone. It has not worked yet. the DS cloud app for iphone does not sync with DSM at all. I tried my blackberry, it worked but it deletes the files on the NAS whenever i deleted from my phone. This is not what I wanted. I dont need the back up at all> I was just trying to experiment if i can get this to work first. I have not tried the DS photo on blackberry. The ds photo on iphone does not sync either. I basically gave up the experiment. Sorry for the confusion. My pfsense box was setup to use an VPN service provider, like airvpn, etc. It is not a vpn server, it is a client. No VPN was setup in the synology box. the NO-IP ddns service was set up in the pfsense router, not in the NAS. There is also an entry of DDNS under synology automatically generated when I setup the QC. i guess I can safely delete that. I would like the router to handle the DDNS. by the way, I don't see the (!) as you indicated. I am using a lame version of android ds cloud, because it is blackbery.

To clarify, I started trying out the xpenology only a few months back and only started to play with qc in this dsm6, in the last week or two. I never needed the service. I don't really know what this is all about, until I found out that it could be useful for Ds cloud to back up iphone. I have yet to sort it out how. I is not working as I expected it to ( I would want it backup my iphone, but not necessarily sync, I want the files stay in the NAS even after they are being deleted from the phone). That is not the case, therefore it really has no use for me. However, this is not the reason I am stopping using it. Thank those who made me become aware that this is a mis-use of Synology service. I have no intention to harm the community, the project and Synology. However, I don like the rheteric of how thi mesage is being conveyed to people like me. I f offended and mis-characterised. It would be more constructive if the messages are less person-oriented. This does not mean I am condoning myself. A couple of technical questions. I am not a computer guy at all. 1, I have difficulty configuring the "external access" function as someone pointed out. I have a pfsense box with VPN service running. When I try to set up t router through "external access", it always tells me something like "I have two routers in the network". If I turn off the VPN, it seems to work. Anyway I can set it up with VPN running? 2, if I use the serial and mac address from an old Synology box, would that be okay? Thanks

Simple. Turn off your NAS. Then try a WOL see if it starts up If you don't know what it means then you probably don't have a use for it. Personally I did not have to fiddle with anything to have WOL working. I simply used the real MAC addresses of my 2 NICS and generated the serial with the famous excel serial generating file. WOL works as expected. How did you generate a serial that matches a specific MAC address, let's say the real MAC of the ethernet card? The instruction says that SN and MAC come in pairs and must match in order for the Quickconnect to work. I use Quickconnect.

The "RC.d" directory previously located under "root/usr/syno/etc-defaults/rc.d" has now been moved to: "Root/usr/local/etc/rc.d" I am able to put a script in this folder to automatically mount a directory in a USB drive: "Sleep 5 Mount --bind /volumeUSB1/usbshare/downloads /volume1/downloads Sleep 5"
  18. I accidentally installed a fresh copy of xpenology DSM 5.2 to a system with a esata drive attached to it. The HRD option was not checked at the time of installation. I did not realized esata was treated as SATA. I thought it woul be treated as an external device just like USB drive. Can I still recover content of the drive? What tools to use and what procedure to follow? It is now being reformated to Linux and partitioned. Greatly appreciate your help.
  19. I was able to play musics and video from a USB drive under DSM 5.2 with a symbolic link I am trying to figure out whether I can do the same with DSM 6.

Just to let you know this image has worked for me with no issue so far. No error messages. Asrock N3150B-ITX board. T boar has 2 SATA ports in a 2-Bay case. Only one of t bays were used. The board in the back of the other bay is still connected to the MB, but the bay is empty. Thank you for th good job! I have no serial.
  21. Thanks for th quick reply. Will a PCIe/MSATA-to-USB converter/adaptor work? There are abundant of cheap pci-to-usb adapters available. I just wonder these behave exactly the same as native USB ports. I want to use one of these tiny board to create an internal USB port for xpenology booting and the two external USB for hard drive connection. The reason I prefer USB drives to SATA drives is that I found that the file system on the Xpenology attached USB drive is still accessible to plugged to computer. While the sata drives are not. IF the system crashes, for whatever reason, ( I made a mistake upgrading to DSM 6.0, and lost all the file on the internal sata drives.), the USB files are readily retrieved. Thanks again.
  22. I have a board which has very limited number of USB ports. I would like to conserve them. the board has an mSATA and an onboard storage for operating systems. Can I use the msata to boot and install xpenology onto the onboard flash? This is the board I am talking about: Turris Omnia router board https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/turris-omnia-hi-performance-open-source-router#/ Thanks, Xvortex.
