  1. Mellanox ConnectX MST tools? (These are the tools needed to flash/upgrade the firmware and possibly flash a new MAC address). If this could be included, that would be amazing.
  2. Hello, My NAS is running a Mellanox Connect-X 2 NIC, and I'm looking at flashing the MAC address. However, it seems I need a tool called MFT from Mellanox. Has anybody been able to install this tool? and have instructions?
  3. So, just in case anybody else has this problem. Simply download the 5.1-5055.1 nanoboot, install that, and after a reboot everything should come online.
  4. What I'm wondering is if I should upgrade to 5.2 and see if it resolves the problem. But I don't want to upgrade if it leaves my storage offline and unavailable.
  5. Hello, I updated my NAS to 5.1-5055, and after a reboot I'm now getting "An Abnormality has been detected, All volumes have been unmounted ". This happened right after doing an update (using the control panel > update & restore method). DS3615xs Current DSM version: DSM 5.1-5055 DSM date: 2015/05/12
  6. Honestly, no clue man. I don't have an IB card, so I have zero experience with it.
  7. NVM... Figured it out. I was running just ifconfig... stupid me forgot to check ifconfig -a to see the interfaces that were not up. Doh! >< Its now online and good to go!
  8. Thanks for the info/links Kanedo, Sadly it still not coming up in ifconfig. I actually upgraded to 5.1-5022.3 last night, but it seems as though neither of the mlx files were loading. I added the files to the rc files, rebooted, but it still seems as though it's not getting picked up by the OS. Now, my mellanox card is one of the MNPA19-XTR HP 10GB like this: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/350983607688 I then actually tried replacing the .ko files that came with 5.1, with the files you provided, and again no change (no errors on boot though either). I'm not too worried about peak speed, but my primary reason is for low latency for 3 ESXi boxes.
  9. Hello, I've got a Mellanox ConnectX-2 EN 10Gb NIC, and I cannot get the card to be seen by Synology. I've read here : viewtopic.php?p=11054#p11054 That its possible to get the card working, however I cannot find the http://xpenology.trantor.be/beta/qlcnic.ko and the http://xpenology.trantor.be/beta/mellanox.7z files that are specified as required to make this card work. I'm currently running DSM 5.0-4528 Update 2 If anybody has any suggestions/pointers/thread references on where to get these files and/or if they will work for DSM 5.0, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  10. Assuming that you only run the raid card in jbod mode, in theory it should be ok. But as others have said plug a disk into the "raid" ports and boot with a test OS first to be sure Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. If your looking at qnap vs synology for enterprise level archiving, synology also offers better iscsi and NFS support then qnap. Enable iscsi on a qnap and watch it shit the bed. Well documented problem Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Has anybody tried the HP ConnectX-2 cards with Xpenology? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Sorry to ask such an uneducated question, but I just got an LSi 9201-8i (running in IT mode), and was planning on running 4.2... Is running this HBA possible in 4.2-3211-v1.2 ?
  14. Hey guys, Just installed Xpenology 1.2 3211++ on a complete standalone hardware, and most things are working as expected, except Plex Media Server. I just downloaded and installed it, and when I click on the icon I get : "Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Reason: You're speaking plain HTTP to an SSL-enabled server port. Instead use the HTTPS scheme to access this URL, please. Hint: https://*:5001/" I've enabled cloudstation, so I can't revert to http, is there a way to fix this ?
  15. Hey guys, I test this twice on two fresh installs just to make sure it was the problem : ESXi 5.1 U1 Fresh Trantor 1.2 (3211++) build VMXNET3 in ESXi My vSwitch is set to 9k jumbo frames, the physical adapters are as well, and so is my switch (which also has LAG enabled and seemingly functioning with no issues). If I go into Networking in Xpenology, and I the single Network connection to "Enable Jumbo Frame. The MTU is 9000", I apply it, and as the network restarts, I completely lose access to the Synology OS. The DS Assistant finds it, however when I attempt to load it just waits a few minutes and then fails to load. Now, I don't know if this issue is caused by Xpenology or my ESXi config. My vSwitch is configured as : vSwitch0 = 1 NIC, set to Management Only vSwitch1 = Dual Port Intel GigE Nic, running in LAG mode, and reserved for my VM's only (24 ports, MTU:9000) > Cisco SG200-08 (2 port LAG in Static Mode). vSwitch2 = 1 NIC set to Management Only as an offline backup (I don't really need it, but I set it up this way just in case), I also don't have enough ports on my switch to populate it with a physical connection. I'm not really sure if I need Jumbo frames but I was just testing the feature, and thought I'd mention this, in case anyone else finds their 'Nology being completely un-responsive. Also, a Side question : Does anybody know the MAC addresses for the other 3 NICs from an actual 3612xs ? Reason I ask, is I figure if I add a second NIC in ESXi with the other MAC address, I can enable LAG in the VM (Have no clue if this will benefit anything or not though...)
  16. So a small tidbit of information for those who repeatedly get stuck with Grub 22 error after installing the .pat file. When you convert the VID file to a VMDK file, MAKE SURE, you convert it to IDE, NOT SATA. Mine defaulted to SATA everytime. To fix this, when the conversion is done, edit the SMALL 1k .vmdk file (it's really a descriptor file), and change : FROM : ddb.adapterType = "lsilogic" TO : ddb.adapterType = "ide" This will then allow you to import the vmdk as an IDE drive. Create your second drive as an IDE drive as well and then proceed with the boot and install. Once the install is done, shut down your VM, and replace the Disk 1 ide VMDK with the original vmdk file. Reboot, and you should be good to go! I just spent hours stuck on this stupid little detail, figured I would save some other people some hair loss. To help people out : here is a link to the ESXi VMDK in IDE format to save those going through the conversion hassle : https://www.dropbox.com/s/6ptsu961r1nijwm/Synoboot-Trantor-4.2-3211-v1.2_FLAT-ESXi-IDE_VMDK.7z or : https://db.tt/slEmjgQv
  17. I've had the exact same problem, however when I replace the boot disk VMDK, I get prompted to install the DSM again, it's a loop I can't seem to figure out how to get past.
  18. Ok, so I downgraded from ESXi 5.5 to 5.1 and now passthrough is working. I have one other question... Is there a way to DECREASE the file size of the secondary Disk from 20Gig to 10Gig ? Reason I ask, is that I am running this VM on a 32GB SSD from my ESX box. Also, once it's up and running is it possible to upgrade this VM to 4.2 build 3211++ ?
  19. Ok, So, I was able to get the base version installed and working, however if I add my onboard SATA (AMD SB950 from a 990FX mobo) controller as passthrough (running ESXi off of internal USB), then when I restart the Xpenology VM it hangs @ 4.8xxx . Now I am currently running 4.1, only because it's the only VMDK I seem to be able to get to run on my ESXi 5.5 box (rather it's the only one I've found for esx atm). Any help/suggestions is welcome!
  20. IS there a way to install this version directly into ESXi without having to compile items (I have no clue how to compile components of this or any other OS) ?
  21. Hey guys, So, I've got the following hardware : AMD A8-3870 3.3Ghz 8 cores total ASUS f1a75-m pro motherboard 8 GB DDR3 750W PSU 80% Lian-Li PC-V354 Case (7 3.5" internal HDD bays in a MiniITX form factor) LSI Megaraid 84016e RAID Controller (256MB ram and a BBU included) in RAID 6 mode: 6 x 2TB NAS HDD (4 x WD RED (two seperate batches), 2x Seagate NAS) I originally set this box up as a small ESX server with the intent to run FreeNAS as a VM, and populate it with the Drives from the LSI. Turns out this controller doesn't have JBOD, nor can it pass through it's drive data, so I'm stuck for now (I don't want to buy ANOTHER controller for now if I can avoid it). So, I've installed Xpenology 4.2 build 3211, and almost everything seems to be working as expected. Now, what I have done is setup the drives on my controller as a Raid 6 array, and then create several Basic Drives to split up storage for different reasons for now. One of the things that would be nice is if the LSI Megaraid remote management client could be installed (So that you can run the MegaRAID Storage Manager software) from any windows client to configure the RAID array itself (I can't ever seem to get into the raid card directly on boot, stupid UEFI bios...) Anybody know if there is a driver that I can install that will allow the Controller to show up via my network ?
  22. asus f1a75-m pro NOT using onboard SATA, so unknown. Using LSI Megaraid 84016e RAID controller Seems to work, but I'm tempted to pull the raid controller and go to the onboard controller to show each drive since this controller does NOT offer JBOD. EDIT: Sorry, I should clarify, this is running DSM 4.2 build 3211.
