  1. Hi guys, I have a problem, I am trying to update an existing 5.2 system. I unplugged all the existing drives and just plugged in a spare drive just to test the hardware. I followed the guide with the VID/PID and MAC address changes. I booted from USB fine, used the browser to update the .pat (using DSM_DS3615xs_15152.pat) and it uploads it and then at around 56% progress a red 'Unknown exception' message' shows up and installation halts. The MB is a ECS NM70-I2 (V1.0) Intel Celeron 1037U 1.80GHz Intel NM70 I have an extra SATA Controller (IO Crest 4 Port SATA III PCI-e 2.0 x1 Controller Card Marvell Non-Raid with Low Profile Bracket SI-PEX40064) plugged in and I saw that a user said it worked out of the box for them. Any ideas on how to proceed? Thanks in advance.
  2. Last time I updated was to DSM_DS3615xs_5644 with all the updates up to synology_bromolow_3615xs upd5. The reason I want to upgrade is to go from 1 drive replication to 2 drive replication. Otherwise, I would leave it alone. My question is, which tutorial and set of files/loaders, etc is current and applicable to my current set up? Thanks
  3. It is working on an older version of XPenology, I wonder if it is still working in the latest version. Thx
  4. ok then, I need the 4493 .pat and the nanoboot img I guess. Do we know if this is an in-place upgrade for existing 4,2/4.3 installations?
  5. Poechi, why do I need the new boots? What's wrong with the synoboot that trantor provides?
  6. Can someone give a quick pointer as to how to upgrade from existing working installation of DSM 4.2-3211 ? Perform the manual update from the update menu? Thx in advance
  7. I got this when I tried ethtool -s eth0 wol g "Cannot get current wake-on-lan settings: Operation not permitted not setting wol"
  8. I haven't been able to get WOL to work. Someone told me to try this: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1028&start=260#p6660 But I have not had a chance yet. I did use a hex editor to fix the MAC Address. I also used the scheduler and the NAS shuts itself off and turns itself back on just fine. I added a Syba mini pci-express SATA 3 card so now I have 6 sata ports. I also added a 4-port USB3.0 pciexpress card so now I have usb 3.0 ports as well but I have not had a need for them yet. I don't even need the 6 SATA ports yet, I have 4 disks in there. The case I used is an old Lian Li I've had for a while now http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811112266 Takes standard ATX PSU but I did not trust the PSU I had so I used a thermatake 180w FlexAtx PSU I had lying around.
  9. Who do you thunk will carry the AAEON EMB-QM87A?
  10. I used a FoxConn D70S-P. Celeron 1037U. Only 17W. It could possibly handle 2 1080p transcodes but no guarantee. Only $80 though and only thing you need is some DDR3. p.s. I love your first 2 choices but are they available in the US?
  11. What is in there that is so appealing compared to 4.2? Let's assume that I don't care for anything other than pure NAS functionality.
  12. I'd like to ask why I can't get the WOL to set. When I try to set it I get an error. The serial # and the MAC address were set properly and I see that on router.
  13. I can confirm that 4.2 3211 works fine with this chipset....
  14. For driver request please use : viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1361&p=6528#p6528 Thanks, I'd like to report the ASMedia card works now. It was a defective card and it was replaced. Everything is great!
  15. Success on a FoxConn D70S-P Mini-Itx Celeron 1037U. Everything seems to be working except the WOL. It says 'Error setting WOL' every time I try to set it. The board has the N70 chipset and Realtek 8111F LAN chip. Only issue I have is with the add-on mini-pci express SATA card. DSM does not see any drives attached to that. Without it, I am limited to 4 drives on the onboard SATA. It's a ASMedia ASM1061 based card with 2 6Gbit SATA ports.
  16. Well, it's confirmed, it doesn't work on 4.2. Any drive plugged into this card is not visible in DSM.
  17. Any luck with this? I also ordered a ASMedia ASM1061 based card hoping to add more drives to the build I am about to start.
  18. Is it working? If yes, On which build? Thanks
