  1. One of the first thing I tried, but as the NAS and the PC are on totally different IP ranges, Synology Assistent is finding nothing. I might find the time to install an extra NIC (Intel) and get that going with DHCP
  2. So, some years ago I helped a friend to install DSM 6.x on a HP N54L Microserver, based on Jun's 1.0x bootloader, and I left it running with DHCP based IP for the ease of moving it between my and his "homelabs". Down the road, he was giving it a fixed IP, outside his local DHCP scope, all OK. But, when moving to a different location it was stored for a while. New location, new ISP and new router with a different IP range, now its getting complicated... When it was time to hook it up, no connection (naturally). And the tricky part is, he has totally forgotten both the IP and the IP range he used to have. The question: How can we find, and connect to the HP so the old fixed IP can be changed to reflect his new IP range?
  3. Could you post some screenshots from "Storage Manager" ? (RAID Group)
  4. Actually, I qouted it Yes, due to how the system enumerates the nic's during boot the external will allways become eth0, but is/was that really a "problem" ? btw: how is the "real-life" experience with DSM 7 and redpill, compared to your old setup?
  5. A late reply, so I guess you found this out, using this: set mac1=68... set mac2=38... will let you use both NIC's with their original MAC
  6. JBM585 based controllers, has been used by many of the users. But, I do spot a "minor" problem ... The SATA controller is "B-Key", and the extension you link to, is "M-Key". What "Key" do you have on your mainboad? Edit: on closer look, the "minor" problem should not be a problem btw: are you using the "Oculink", and if so was it easy to get going with XPE?
  7. And can you *verify* that the IP adress is handed out to the correct mac adress (the one in your grub.cfg file) and that no other devices on your net is using that mac or IP? Are you using the real mac, or a spoofed mac in grub.cfg?
  8. What services are you running on your NAS? Have you *disabled* any UPNp services on your router ?
  9. So, if you open a browser, and point it to: http://ip.adress:5000 what happens then?
  10. From what I can see, he has been invited to join this forum, and share his knowledge. No reply, so maybe he was just trying to fake it
  11. @omar Great catch 👍 my old and "broken" eyes🧐 missed that important point 🤥
  12. Good for you On HPE's webpage for Gen 8.1 they state: The 2017.04.0 SPP is the last production SPP to contain components for the G7 and Gen8 server platforms. So in any of the newer releases, there are no new updates for G7/8.
  13. True, just like you need to be logged in to write a post as well
  14. @Jo2021 do you really need the "russian" version? As I once wrote: The 2017.04.0 SPP is the last production SPP to contain components for the G7 and Gen8 server platforms.
  15. @MrWhite That would be 6.2.3-25426 I assume, since "no-one" has been reporting a positive install/update to the .4 If you where able to update from a fresh install of 6.2.3 any info is highly welcome (your bootloader is Jun's 1.03b, right? When those "major things" are clear, we will move on to your questions
  16. @MrWhite Just to be sure, you installed DSM 6.2.4 ? Exactely what build? Can you tell us what bootloader, and what HW emulation you choosed?
  17. @gquiring If I don't get what you are "trying to say", maybe you are not expressing yourself well. No one is trolling here (unless you are?). 1 - You state you are concerned that you can not install 6.2.4 2 - You state that you are fully aware of the issue in regards to 6.2.4 Why in the world are you concerned about not being able to install 6.2.4? is my question to you. If you for some reason *need* 6.2.4 (or "better") for now, get yourself a real Synology. Do not expect a working bootloader for 6.2.4 to surface until *after* the release of DSM7.
  18. There is a "general" thread here you may find of interess, no kidding
  19. No kidding, if you are fully aware of that issue, why does it really concerns you ? Just as flyride said, that is "working" as expected, and not a Synology restriction.
  20. You *do* know that there is a known issue in regards to 6.2.4? No one has been able to install/run that on *any* non-syno hardware (none validated installs).
  21. Interesting topic, even for the ones who are staying with 6.1.x for their "production systems" (looking in the mirror ) While trying to catch up on this topic, I stumbled across a minor discussion on DarkWeb ( aka. Facebook), and I felt I should just "throw it in" to see if anyone have an opinion of what being posted there. I removed their names, to respect their "privacy"
  22. @Joe1 Exactly, thats why I was got confused when you said: "I manage to pass the pci card" I might give Debian a try on my Tiny, if/when I find some spare time 👍 Small boxes makes BIG fun🙃
  23. You forgot the most important info: what Synology model are you emulating? The bootloader "dictates" how many cores/threads you XPE can use/will show you. As you may have noticed, it might even tell you the "wrong CPU" model as explained here. For "cosmetics" take a look here.
