I am currently running on an old ProLiant MicroServer G7 N54L (704941-421). • AMD Turion II Neo N54L (2.20GHz, 2x1MB L2 Cache). • Chipset: AMD RS785E/SB820M.L (INTEL Core i3-4130 4GB Ram) as DS3615xs with DSM 6.0.2-8451 Xpenology and I am very happy . I would like to update to the newest DSM 6.2.3 the same server without losing my data. I read a lot of posts but from different DSM's or different servers. I would appreciate if somebody can show me step by step how to update with the correct files reflecting my hardware. Create a new usb with correct Files for my server and get the correct PAT File. Dear all, I am currently running on an old HP ProLiant MicroServer N36L (INTEL Core i3-4130 4GB Ram) as DS3615xs with DSM 6.0.2-8451 Xpenology and I am very happy . Thank you all for the support all these years. I have a few questions thought if you can help me out. 1. Can I Update through Control Panel - DSM Update - Download to "DSM 6.0.3-8754 is available for download" or I will ruin my system and need a custom update to download ? Meaning Can I Install updates from Control Panel at any time with no risk or updates has to be custom ? 2. When I install a custom loader from USB can I download the original PAT File from Synology based on my DS3615xs model? or it has to be a custom PAT as well ? 3. I found some info non related to my HP Microserver but a newer Gen8 version and I would Like to ask if I can proceed with the following steps and files to upgrade (migrate) from DSM 6.0.2-8451 to the new DSM 6.2.2 ? a. Download - create a usb with boot loader v1.03b for DS3615xs (Jun's Loader v1.03b DS3615xs) b. Backup the current configuration (.dss) file of my server ... just in case. c. Restart server with the new usb with (Jun's Loader v1.03b DS3615xs) d. Search and find My server with Synology Assistant and Migrate to preserve my Files. e. Migrate and then click to manually install the PAT file from https://archive.synology.com/download/DSM/release/6.2/23739/ or I Can download from synolgy 6.2.2 "DSM is the operating system of DS3615xs. The update includes the latest features and enhancements." ? PAT File has to be custom or just the custom usb loader ? f. Update from control Panel as I ask before? or custom upgrade file from https://archive.synology.com/download/DSM/criticalupdate/update_pack/23739-2/synology_bromolow_3615xs.pat My main reason to upgrade is moments that provided in DSM 6.2 and above and cloud station. I want to stop using One drive (one note) and Google drive (photos) as I reached their max and now I have to pay + my privacy. I want to switch to Synology Note station, Synology office and momets. Dear all, Thank you for everything. You saved me. I will explain how maybe it can help somebody else. 1. My Xpenology 5.2 on HP Proliant sever was working fine until I got a message from my server than one of my two Raid drive failed and was degrated. 2. After several attempts started and there I should replace one of the two drives or backup and press repair drive as a given option from Synology. 3. Instead (stupid me) I downloaded the Time backup Package for storage. It screwed everything up. Unable to shh with putty, find the server through synology assistant. Nothing would work and believe me I was about to quit everything and try to save my files through Linux from another desktop that I tried and worked in the past. 4. Of course after I screwed up, I found out that the "Time backup " Package created same issue to others. 5. I followed the instructions (Jun's loader) and thank you very much bypassing the OSF step 5 and everything worked great. I managed to Install as described on my AMD HP Proliant. 6. This saved me from heart attack if there was a slight chance that I lost my files. 7. Thank you all and specially to Polanskiman for writing such a great instructions with all necessary warnings.
