  1. Anyone know how to get the serial number? its removed from the info tab in 6.2.3 Running this as a VM
  2. That wasn't a slight at you, but rather me! I was certain i was missing something!
  3. Am I missing something, or am I just blind? I am running DS3617xs DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 6
  4. - Outcome of the update: N/A Loader version and type: Jun's Loader v1.04b DS918+ DSM version prior update: Fresh Install Using custom modules/ramdisk? No Hardware details: Intel i3-8100, Gigabyte Z370 HD3, Intel lan, 2 X LSI SAS9220-8i HBA in IT mode. 8GB Hyper X DDR4-2666

So, I migrated to 36xx and when I did the hard drive change to allow more drives, it would work, but the second I rebooted, it wanted to migrate. It detected a change to a "new 36xx" Any idea what is going on

What Flyride said. Sorry for the delay in responding to your question.

So, after playing around for a while, I found the BRTFS file system to be very slow in comparison to EXT4. For example, USB 3.0 transfer speeds almost never broke 100MB/s back to the SHR 2 volume. Keep in mind, this could be important, or not, it was also doing a parity consistency check. So, I nuked everything, and went back to an EXT4. USB 3.0 speeds are between 140-160MB/s. Again, keep in mind, this could be important, or not, it was also doing a parity consistency check at the same time. While I understand there is some benefits going to the newer file system, this is a media server first and foremost. For me, speed is important. I have to transfer almost 32TB of data back to this server, the speed difference alone will probably save me a day or so. One thing I need to figure out, is the SATA PORT MAPPING. Of the possible 16 drive spaces, my LSI cards start at drive 7. My on board sata ports start are spaces 1-6. I have 16 possible drives via my LSI cards, but, not sure what I want to set for SATA PORT MAPPING to make those two cards go first and show up first.

Well, I managed an install, with 10 disks so far. Its doing the parity/consistency check right now. I love that now, you have the Raid Resync speed options. Running current loader 104.b, and DS918 I also used the CPU script from the other thread, so that its showing the proper CPU.

@flyride Biggest reason is for hardware transcoding via plex. I have several friends and family that utilize plex, and sometimes, transcoding happens. If software or hardware is better, I don't know. That is my biggest reason. I just had a drive die (Crashed actually, the disk is fine, several tests confirm, again, another WD, go figure) so I figured it would be the perfect time to start fresh. This server is at least 6 years old.

    DSM 6.2 Loader

Currently running 6.1 on an older server. I have new hardware OTW. I have the following: Intel I3-8100 Coffee Lake GIGABYTE Z370 HD3 8GB Hyper X Fury DDR4 2600Mhz Ram 2 LSI SAS9220-8i cards flashed to IT mode I am currently backing up my SHR array to external drives. I have 13HDD's that I will be formatting and putting into this. I am currently running 12, with SHR1. I want to use 13 with SHR2. Its over 50TB. Can I use 1.04B with the DS918 image from Synology, running the latest DSM, with more than the 4 drives? Will it show automatically, or am I going to had to make some edits to the syno.conf file? Will it be the same thing as before with SHR, and having to also make the edit to get it setup? I will be spinning up all drives at once.
  14. I have been running Xpenology for so long, I am having a total brain fart. I am going to nuke my array and start over soon. Doing my backups now. However, I can't remember, I am switching to new hardware Do I need onboard graphics or a video card to do the install? I am pretty sure I do to install the loader.
  15. Ok, I have been running an AMD system since 2011 with 11 drives. Due to heat issues of the drives, pushing 50c, i ordered at 16 bay Rosewill case. For the price, it can't be beat. Now, I am at the point I think I am going to upgrade my server completely. But, I have a few questions, and I want to make sure I am not about to make a stupid bonehead move, so getting a few opinions on this, is probably as wise endevour. Like I said, my old system is an AMD A3 low end cpu, 4 gigs ram with an sas9220-8i flashed to IT mode. I have 11 drives of all various sizes, totaling over 40TB of storage in an SHR1 array. I am looking at an Intel i5-4800 cheapest mobo i can find 8GB ram this time Basically, my use is as follows Plex media server, with local streaming to on average 2-3 clients at a time with 1-2 remote connections with direct play. (My home connection is 1Gbps symmetrical) I run a UniFi controller and a UMNS controller for my Ubuiquti stuff in a docker container each. (this draws on the ram, and while i have reduced it to 512MB, i would like to give it what it really wants, which is 1GB) Other services used are FTP/Sonarr/Couch Potato/NZBGet et Everything runs fine now, with the exception of the ram, but thats not a big deal. My main question is, can i just install the new mobo, cpu and ram, plug the USB drive with Juns102.b in, and boot up my DSM6.2 like normal? If not, what do I need to do. I need to keep my data. I am hoping switching to a new mobo, the sata port issue for 3 drives won't happen like when i migrated to DSM6, they fell out of order, and the array had issues.
