  1. I ma running DSM7 as virtual machine on Proxmox. Is there some way for Xpenology to power off without errors when I stop virtual machine?
  2. Is there some modification that can be made to use usb dvbt2 tuner on DSM7? Apparently there is no usb driver support but maybe there is some way to pass it? I am runing on Proxmox and would like to use it in DSM VM but there is no way for me to make it work in Docker container or direct by spk (Tvheadend)
  3. Hello. I am doing first test moving from Redpill and DS918 to ARPL. I got couple questions. I am testing DS3622 with LSI 9200-8i IT mode in Proxmox. I wrote SataPortMap=118 DiskIdxMap=100A00 and my 5 hdds connected to controller are as I wanted number from 3 to 7. Virtual sata drive shows up as number 11. Any idea to get it as number 1 (and 2 as Loader)? I got intel 8500T cpu- is it possible to get transcoding if it is not DS with Celeron J cpu (with f.ex synocodectool-patch), or I need to try with DS920?
  4. Got 918+ working on Proxmox. SAS card with 5x6TB disks is working/ SHR1 from DSM6 was imported with data on it, but I will wipe all drives anyway to have them optimized. I need to check all serials of drives and cables to have them in correct orders/ for now I managed to get it like 1 slot- VM sata 32GB, the rest start from 3 slot and I have no idea how to get them to start from 2 slot. Ps. Does Adding 2 ssds as read/write cache is usefull for home use or it will only cause extra problems?
  5. Ps. I managed to get SAS card to work but in DSM i have disk7 as virtual drive 20GB and 4 ( from 5 attached) disks as disk 13,14,15,16. Tomorrow I will try to finish it/ I need to read what has to be changed.
  6. From my experience You can flash all of those cards with LSI 9211 IT mode: lsi 9211 8i Fujitsu 9211 Dell Perc H200 IBM ServeRAID M1015 Intel RS2WC080 Dell Perc H310
  7. Hi. From yesterday I am trying in Proxmox to get it work as 918+ virtual machine. I had the same PERC card flashed with LSI IT firmware and it was working well on DSM6 with 5 drives in SHR (no important data on it). In previous DSM I just needed to add line " set sata_args='SataPortMap=1 DiskIdxMap=1000' " in grub.cfg and then just pass it to Xpenology VM. Got my 918+ with quad GbE card but SAS card is another problem. Could You guide me what drivers, etc should I add to make it work ( I didnt tried to build my own redpill on usb/docker yet, I am just testing image downloaded from internet)
  8. So I tried today and quad card is working well- got one static connection + one bond made from quad card. Now time for the rest
  9. Hi. Today I tried to switch from DSM6 to DSM7 on Proxmox. After couple tries I got running 918+ on Proxmox but I will finish it some other day because I will be out of home. I have question - how can I add quad GbE card and SAS controller that was working on DSM6? Do I need to create my own boot image with redpill-tool-chain (never tried that) or I can just add netiff num, sata args, sataportmap, etc in grub.cfg like it was in DSM6?
  10. I got Hauppauge Win TV Solo HD DVBT2 tv tuner and can not get it to work in Xpenology (DS918+) when I pass-trough it in Proxmox. What should I do to get DS Video recognize it? Do I need some extra drivers in synoboot or upload it to some DSM system folder to get it work?
  11. Thanks I will try today. Do i need root access or just add socket/serial port?
  12. I have quad GbE pcie card and I want to use it with DS918. All 4 ports are connected to switch with created bond (LACP) connection. When I add second mac with count 2 into grub.cfg they both appear in DSM. If I do the same with 4 mac adresses and change count to 4, DSM still shows only 2 connections. Is it possible to have 4 ports active in DS918?
  13. I am trying to get my quad NIC card working to create bond. I had add 4 mac adresses in grub.cfg as: set mac1=...................F18 set mac2=...................F19 set mac3=...................F1A set mac4=...................F1B I had added 4 pci devices (4 ports) to the VM and it is working - LAN 1 - virtual, LAN2- one of the added ports / also works when I remove virtual -then I have 2 ports that are passed-trough to the VM. Problem is that in DSM it only shows LAN 1 and LAN 2. Is there a way to get LAN 3 and LAN 4 to show up in DSM? I had also tried to create maxlanport=4 eth0_mtu="1500" eth1_mtu="1500" eth2_mtu="1500" eth3_mtu="1500" in /etc.defaults/synoconfig.conf and /etc/synoconfig.conf but none of it help. Can I get some help how to make it work?
  14. Is there a way to get 1GbE quad port card working with DS918 (I would like to bond 4 ports in it). I had edit grub.cfg with 4 mac adresses (instead of original 2), passed 4 pci devices by Proxmox to Xpenology but in DSM/network/network interfaces, there is only LAN1 (virtual intel E1000) and LAN2 (one port from quad card). When I delete Virtual intel card there is also only 2 LAN ports (both from passed card). Is there some way to edit it so DSM will see all 4 ports or it is not possible/ some limit of ds918?
  15. I added a spare ssd drive for testing cache and it showed up without problem (dont want to play with nvme it will be to complicated ) Could You tell me how to make the loader hidden but get a extra virtual sata hdd seen by storage manager? I want to have it attached to dsm (just as a copy of system partition like on other drives). If I would like to update the system I could temporary remove the passed sas controller, create snapshot of the virtual disk and then make an update ( If there will be a problem I could just restore it and after that attach the controller back to it)
  16. YES! Made it! All drives attached to sas controller are visible in Storage Manager. What I have done was to convert my individual ( thanks to flyride ) synoboot.img by the old version of StarWind V2V Converter (v8.165). After that I had to upload both files .vmdk and flat.vmdk with synoboot.img so ESXI could see it and apply it as sata 0:0 disk. System got recovered from 3 hdds that was visible last time and now it all looks promising. Now its time for nvme, gpu for transcoding, quad ethernet card and dvbt tuner to work with it. Ps. Can I add another 2 disks to the controller with " set sata_args='SataPortMap=1 DiskIdxMap=1000' " if I will create SHR volume now and would like to add extra drives to it later?
  17. So I am trying again. I wanted to convert my synoboot.img by Starwind V2V converter instead of using the one I had downloaded but I get error "warning this format is not compatible with esxi vmdk format". After creating the vdmk file I can not add existing hard drive in ESXI so I can not create the boot disk... Any idea ?
  18. I am using 1.04b synoboot downloaded by Xpenology tool ( I also tried this one with vdmdk/ I think I downloaded them from here). This is what I got (should I change the line 37 inside grub cfg?)
  19. I got ds 918 loader and vdmk (found somewher over internet) on sata 0:0. Controller is passed-through and I stil dont see all disks. I had passed the controller to Win10 pe, removed all partitions and format all drives (they are all visible on other vm systems also). When I try to pass-through to Xpenology there is only maxiumum 4 drives (one 6tb drive is out/got some errors, now I will have to use 5 drives). I can find synology over the net and install system on drives passed by controller but I can never get all drives to work (sometimes it shows 3, sometimes 1, sometimes 4....). I would like to have them in use like on baremetal/no virtual drives, etc.
  20. I need all the data and synology applications on SHR all connected to pcie sata controller, just like on baremetal instalation + nvme I have connected to mainboard for cache ( I need ESXI for other systems and other devices pass-through that is way I can not go baremetal)/ I will use ds918 for that( I can optionally use virtual 16gb/ just need an option of snapshots to revert update, etc by esxi) What do I need exactly to make it run? Just synoboot +vmdk with correct serial and mac adresses in grub.cfg + one virtual sata set to 0:0? I want to use pcie sas controller with 2x4 sata cables (6hdds for now) + extra nvme disk passed-trough. Should I make some changes in grub.cfg to get all sata ports working or should I do it some other way? I dont understand this " SataPortMap and DiskIdxMap " part. Could You please explain how it should be done?
  21. So I am trying to pass-trough pcie sata/sas controller( flashed into it mode). Dont know what I am doing wrong but there is no way to pass controller with 6 disks attached. Sometimes it shows 5 disks in DSM, sometimes one, sometimes 4 (depends on when I add another sata controller, scsi controller, etc). Tried with 2 controllers and 3 pcie slots on my mobo without luck. Can someone explain how it should be done (I did not think there will be so many problems with it...)
  22. I want to build new NAS that will have xpenology and extra virtual systems. I want to use Intel 8gen (with igpu), 2x nvme, 6x hdd in a SHR poool (or raid5/6)+ extra disks for backups, downloads and temporary files. First option is ESXI on nvme + xpenology VM with hba and all single disks passed-through. Second option is baremetal and synology virtual machine manager. Probably DS918 platform would be the best to have transcode and nvme cache support but is it possible to have it on ESXI? Maybe better option will be baremetal in which it should work without major problems, but is there a way to backup system partition just in case? Does synology virtual machine manager have option off pci pass-through? Which option will be the best for me?
  23. How and where it should be done? Should it be added to grub.cfg or somewhere else? My controller have 2 outputs (each for 4 sata drives).
  24. I am trying to passtrough LSI SAS controller flashed in IT mode. When I add it to Xpenology DS918 VM in Proxmox as pci device, DSM store management shows only 6 drives - 2 Xpenology drives (boot and system) and 4 hdds instead of 6 (there is space for 16 drives). Anyone know how to fix it?
