Is there a easy way to clone a HDD?

I am curious to know if I pull my old and smaller HDD on SATA0 and replace it with the new and bigger HDD with it. What would happen? Is it going to create a huge mess?

I wish I read your reply a bit earlier, I just clicked and expanding my SHR to 1 disk fault tolerance. If I take out the original and smaller size hdd and leave the newer and larger hdd in SATA0 after sync, will that create problem?

Thanks. I am a newbie at this. How do I expand the volume after sync? Can I do this in the DSM?
  4. I want to move the content of my SATA0 hdd to a new and bigger hdd. Is there an easy way to do it? Are cloning (which software to use?) and gparted the way to go? I tried the hyper backup but it doesn't seem to allow me to restore to a different hdd. My SATA0 is only 300GB and running out of space. I am using baremetal and running 6.1.3 update 8. Thanks.

Looking for SATA controller card for baremetal

PCIe 3.0 cards are too expensive for me. I think I will stick with PCIe 2.0 card. I think I am taking a speed hit with the PCIe 2.0 card compare with the SATA on board speed? @IG-88 It would be nice to have updated hardware support list.

Looking for SATA controller card for baremetal

Thanks guys. I found this, will it work? https://www.amazon.ca/IOCrest-Port-SATA-Controller-Components/dp/B00AZ9T3OU/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1507647157&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=io%2Bcrest%2Bsataiii%2Bpci-e&th=1 Any difference between the SE9215 and SE9235?
  7. I am running out of SATA port on the motherboard. Would like to add a SATA controller card to add more HDD. Will Marvell 88SE9235 and 88SE9215 work with Jun loader? My baremetal is running 6.1.3 update 6 with Jun 1.02b loader. Thanks.

I just upgraded from 5.2 to 6.1.3 on baremetal. Can I go straight to update 6 without going through the other updates?

    DSM 5.2-5592 Update 4

Newbie here. I installed Xpenology 5.2-5592 on ECS H67H2-M motherboard. Can I go straight to update 4? Do I update from the DSM or the install/upgrade menu on the bootloader?
