super schnelle Antwort, danke. Ich habe echt alles versucht, auch als Admin auf verschiedenen Rechner, bin echt am verzweifeln?!
konntest Du die Datei HPQUSB.exe einfach ausführen (als Admin oder "normal") un dann einen USB Stick beschreiben?
Ich habe schon 3 REchner geprüft, ob evtl. ein Virus oder ähnliches "Schuld" sein kann. Es kommt immer "Device media is write proteced".

Du hast vielleicht eine Idee oder könntest mir helfen. Ich kämpfe mit meinem N54L, dem bios update 2013. Ich kann das BIOS nicht auf einem Stick unter Win10 installieren.
Mein Problem mit den Bios? Nachdem ich die Bios von HP oder anderen Quellen (SP64420.zip) heruntergeladen und die Datei HPQUSB.exe ausgeführt habe, kann ich den Stick auswählen, aber dann kommt "Device media is write protected".
...auch mit anderen Stöcken.
Ich habe es auf anderen Computern mit Win 7/8 und 10 ausprobiert, habe es auch mit VM und Win 7/8 und 10 auf meinem Computer ausprobiert, immer das Gleiche.
Auch Tipps aus dem Internet "zum Thema "Gerätemedien sind schreibgeschützt" wie (https://www.disk-partition.com/articles/hp-usb-format-tool-failed-format-device-3889.html) bringen mir keinen Erfolg.

you may have an idea or could help me. I struggle with my N54L, the bios update 2013. I'm not able to install the BIOS on a Stick via Win10.
My problem with the bios? After downloading the bios from HP or other sources (SP64420.zip) and running the file HPQUSB.exe, I can select the stick, but then it comes "Device media is write proteced".
...also with other sticks.
I have tried it on other computers with Win 7/8 and 10, have tried it also by VM and Win 7/8 & 10 on my computer, always the same.
Also tips from the internet "concerning "Device media is write-protected" like (https://www.disk-partition.com/articles/hp-usb-format-tool-failed-format-device-3889.html) don't get me success.Do you have an halpful idea?

ich wollte mal nachfragen, ob Du inzwischen Ersatz für Deinen N54L gefunden hast? Ich habe nämlich auch einen und würde gern modernisieren, zukunftssicher versteht sich, aber es ist eben nicht so einfach.
Dann noch eine Frage, wie hast Du die 5. Platte zum Laufen bekommen? ich habe auch einen extra Einschub für Platte oben per USB, aber der lief leider nur bis DSM 4 oder der frühen 5.x glaube ich, danach war irgendwas mit dem BIOS. Wäre toll, wenn Du einen Tipp hast.
Gesucht habe ich auch schon, aber wohl die falschen Schlagworte verwendet.

shame on me and big sorry from me to you, because of disturbing you with my no-knowlegde.
It's my fault. Because of what reason I documented for me ... Server N54L with Intel CPU and 4GB Ram. But that's wrong!!! Server N54L is with AMD CPU.
So, if I choose the right way (line 3) it worked very fine.
Once again, thanks for you all and shame on me.

By using the link in his text I load the ...TEST_build-ALPHA.zip... and modified it to my USB stick and used it, but doesn't work. That means, I boot, select the right menu entry and got the screen with "Booting the kernel." at the end.
But I can't find the System in the network.
Any hints or ideas?

It seems I'm coming to the note 1 in the tutorial and don't know what to do:
Note 1: If after following the tutorial you can’t find your NAS through http://find.synology.com ou Synology Assistant it is highly possible that the drivers of your NIC are not included in the ramdisk of the loader. In doubt, just ask.
Everything worked well untill I start to search my NAS via find.sysnology.com or with the assistant. Both can't find my system?! I tried with two USB sticks, but ever the same.
How can I check the point with the NIC?
I'm using a N54L.

Hello @ all,
I did the Update to DSM 5.2-5592 Update 3 last weekend (13.07.2015).
The process it self works fine, but I can't see all my photos via the photo station 6?!?!
If check them with Folder Manager all pictures are there ....
What can I don? Is there any "refresh the link button in the photo station?
