never mind, i only had a quick glance on a picture and overlooked the two black sata connectors
yes that's a 918+ capable cpu
because the driver packages are not well tested yet and i haven't seen much feedback
its more meant as test install to see if network and storage is working, if its just sata onbard and ahci then there is no problem at all with storage
its pretty easy to test with a fresh usb and a old empty disk
Ok So should i just try the 918+ bootloader? will it accept all 6 sata

My board has 6 sata all being used atm I'm willing to try a clean install i have 3 spare drives, CPU i5 4460

So using 6.1 boot loader works but it won't show on 6.2 bootlaoder!

So I bought new motherboard and cpu, I'm in the process of upgrading my server. But before I start, I'm currently testing new hard ware with new usb key. It boot and I get the happy hacking screen but I'm afraid the Ethernet drivers aren't there.
New motherboard: Asrock Z97E-ITX/ac

Yes it takes a couple of brave souls to do this 4tb of data at risk but all seems to be running with no problems.

Just bought a new sata card works like a charm plug and play no need to export drives or anything like if sata ports where from motherboard. literately plugged it in plugged new hard drives boot up dsm and boom all showed up, dint need to plug screen and keyboard to server to set up new hard drives.
4Tb hard drives FYI no problem

I need a sata card for 2 drives I'm currently building a new baremetal with a 4 hotswap cage and 1 internal mobo has 3 sata need 2 more low profile compatible with syno any suggestions?

You can always boot to live ubuntu backup data and fresh install.

Reporting Baremetal no problems didn't have to boot to ubuntu and copy modules updated no problems

I found a similar guide backup data reinstall dsm. i found the cause of it also i filled all bays and somehow first drive starts at drive 6 so filling all 8 no rom for drive 13 which is what dsm saw it as and it crashed the volume.

yes it is on shr1 as soon as i inserted disk hit repair and used that disk to repaird array juns 1.02a

So it finished repairing the raid but volume still says crashed!

So one of my HD died today went a picked up a new one same make model and space put. volume is repairing but i cant see any data I had the raid on SHR1

If you're using Jun's 1.0.2a2 loader it's pretty safe to update to U4. So far going from no update all the way to U4 has caused no issues for me.
Not true as update will mess with drivers
Not really loader and syno version will work as no major changes where make it is still 6.1.1 Im on u4 baremetal

Quick question about SSD Cache I'm planing to get one, if a power failure happens would i lose data?

WoL is working for me too, since DSM 6.x.x which wasn't previously possible under the old DSM 5.2.x
All you have to do is to make sure you can use WoL with plain old BIOS settings (not turning the unit off via DSM or any other OS). A number of routers support WOL built in or you can have apps on your phones and open port 9 for WOL instructions. Once you have done the necessary steps, you can turn on WOL in DSM and from that point you should be able to wake your unit from anywhere.

I have Everything set up MAC on grub.cfg WOL setting is on via settings. tried to click WOL on syno asst. nothing happens

What you mean? You don't need keyboard other than to select boot option while loader is loading. after that is all thru GUI.

So I took the risk made a new usb stick with 918 loader set vid pid boot it up said migratable. Hell with it whats the worst that can happen I would have to downgrade! with old usb stick and spare drive. Anyways so it asked to update that's when I got scared because I couldn't update from 6.1 with old system and when I built this one i made a new stil with loader 6.2 3516and didn't work. Hit installed latest 2 restarts and its up and running! thanks for the help
