I would second this. It’s relatively easy to get a 918 build working if you understand json and can read compiler errors. That being said if you can’t, just stop trying and be patient. @Orphée - your 918 repo needed the model changed to 918p and to be pointed at the virtIO build for 4.4.180plus if you care.

I just built bromolow-6.2.4-25556 with a freshly unzip'd redpill-tool-chain_x86_64_v0.11 and had no errors PEBKAC

a) Good advice is: DON'T. See all the messages at the top of the forum page. The latest release that is currently supported is the one I suggested. 6.2.3 is the latest release that works. b)You will need a new loader to go to 6.2.4 or 7.x. This is currently being developed (see the "redpill" thread in the developer section). In general you need to refer to the forum before you attempt any new release. In the meantime, make sure that automatic updates are disabled in Control Panel. For now, stick with 6.2.3

Good news! There is also an internal USB but lets stick with the one that works 25426 is the one you want

so after a successful test on baremetal G8 with LSI card 2308 card and 7.0.1 42218 , I wanted to give esxi and passthrough a go. (First I upgraded my esxi from 6.7 to 7.0.3 , I’d not previously attempted this as I didn’t think the hba/ LSI card was supported, but on @Orphée advise I was told I would be able to pass it through… well he was correct. (The drive also showed up in esxi data store, before I enabled pass through which I wasn’t expecting ) With my LSI passed through (with same disk I had tested the Baremetal install on ) and a disk on the onboard b120i sata for the datastore/boot loader , I converted the exact same image i used earlier to vmdk and set up the vm. (Had to reserve ram) I powered up and it booted my previous Baremetal build in the VM, no migration needed or anything ! This gives me massive confidence to move my current ‘everyday system’ to esxi and 7.0.1 when the time comes. can’t thank the community and support here enough. iv’e just restored some media and my Plex docker to this test VM (hyper backup) , and was up and running within 10 min , and the fam have been watching Plex content from this new build for the last hour, so all seems good so far ! just to note the issue with 1st disk taking sdb persists (no impact to me at the moment)

I'm sure that is to sell those silly overpriced branded SSDs and nothing else. Even if Syno tests for a device model or serial range, this should be defeatable much like the NVMe patch approach. Please consider a platform like this, with full RAIDF1 and decent CPU support.

Also it seems to be the following repo should contains all available extensions in feature - https://github.com/RedPill-TTG/redpill-extensions. Like a marketplace or repository with a links. So it will be enough to define available extensions unique name inside extensions section in the config. "extensions": [ "thethorgroup.virtio", "example_dev.example_extension" ]
