If your PC is sustaining 200W you must be overclocking with a configuration that does not allow the processor to idle. And +300W during games, maybe you have a dual graphics card setup, probably also overclocked? There is no benefit to DSM from either a high performance video card or overclocking. So the example really is not comparable.

Thanks for the reply, the 8 bay R510 has 4 internal sata ports but no way of powering them. but luckily enough I have just this minute resolved the issue, with a combination of updating all the R510 firmware and modifying the grub file to add the sata controller, unsure of which of these solved it but its working and have been able to do all updates. The onboard lan ports arnt working but that's fine and expected.

You have use loader 1.04b for DSM 6.2.1. Loader’s 1.02 and 1.03b support only DSM 6.2. Loader 1.04 should work on your configuration, as I have same for test proposes.

You can update with loader 1.04b for 918+ up to DSM 6.2.1 update2 for sure. Create new usb memory with vid/pid, Mac/SN from real syno for HW transcoding, if required

First tried a clean install on a seperate disk, could just do it from the web (no pat). After that, I updated my existsing 6.2 installation without any problems.

Hi, first time user here: Loader version and type (918+): 1.03a2 DS918+ DSM version in use (including critical update): DSM 6.2-23739 Update 2 Baremetal install Hardware details: Motherboard: ASRock J5005-ITX; NIC: Realtek 8111H valid sn, boards mac Everything apears to work well. Sytem boots fast and stransferspeeds are around 110MB/s. have not tested hw transcoding but i assume it wont work
