Из многочисленных тестов на больших серверах и разных NAS-ах включая (Dell Compellent, NetApp, Synology), iSCSI (блочный или файловые LUN) всегда получались значительно медленнее чем NFS или CIFS. Это важно для больших инсталяций с множественными 10Гб подключениями и полностью флэш дисками в массивах. У меня это работает как основные и резервные хранилища для VMware VSphere серверов для десятков серверов. Далеко не мелкий или средний офис. Единственное преимущество будет если сервер поддерживае аппаратную загрузку с ISCSI в BIOS, но и здесь флешка намного удобнее и дешевле. Для мелких офисов замечательно работает связка из ESXi сервера с хранилищем или бэкапом на 4-6 дисковом Syno /Xpeno (NFS/CIFS) через 1-2 гигабитных подключения. Для дома я вообще не вижу практического применения ISCSI. Разве что поиграться и поучиться.

Hi, If you want, you can use my VM template : This template offer the capability to use one VM DSM 6.2. All you need to do is to add your vmdk 'data' to the scsi controller. Note that if you want to use more than one VM DSM in the same LAN, you need to change the mac adress in the synobook.vmdk locate in grub.conf.

Hi, for PID and VID check the tutorials like @Polanskiman said. The MACs for this specific model can be found in the BIOS.

Hi Michael, Yes, I am using the HPE Gen10 microserver. The steps I did before installing DSM were: 1. Boot the server, entered bios and copied the MAC addresses of the 2 network cards. 2. Found the PID and VID of the usb 3. Mounted the img file from 1.02b and updated the MACs 4. With WIn32DiskImages I wrote the loader on a USB and put it in the internal slot. 5. Started the server and installed DSM. The pat file was 6.1.4 and after everything was done I installed the latest update at that time, update 2.

I think DSM 6.2 (last version) is not running actually with the Loader 1.03b
