HP Microserver Gen8 bios setting for disk controller

HP Microserver Gen8 bios setting for disk controller

Postby janostasik » 17 Feb 2017 08:41

Hi guys,
may I ask you for an advice which setting you have enabled in BIOS under sata controller option? I've got enabled embedded raid controller, everything is working fine, but in iLO i can see disks connected to standard IDE controller. Its is OK in regards of speed? Don't I need to switch bios setting for SATA AHCI controller?

Thank you so much....

PS: On second microserver where I am running esxi just as lab, I've enabled SATA ahci controller and iLO and esxi sees it as Cougar 6port SATA controller so thats I am not sure what happen with juns loader when I change this setting to SATA ahci controller....

PS2: I am running on Juns loader :)

I'd recommend to use AHCI mode. In this settings, the RAID will be managed by DSM. If no RAID used, then also the Spin-down feature is working with Baremetal and Gen8 HP.
