  1. Still having trouble, can anyone help?
  2. So now I am using NanoBoot-x86-5.0.2.4-vfat.img with DSM_DS214play_5022.pat and it is happy with the pat file, I get the following when trying to install the pat file: Server error (error code 38) If you are installing using wireless connection yada, yada, yada...... Also the formatting data partition step 3 is greyed out, the diskstation gets an IP address OK because I see it in SA and also the webpage half opens up, I am direct connected using an Ethernet cable so don't know why I see this error. Is it possible that there is a disk or SATA controller issue causing this, do I need to prep the hard disk in any way before trying to install the pat file? Really need help to get this working.
  3. Thanks for the help brantje. Unfortunately the file does not work, when trying to load using SA I get a warning message 'You have selected an installation file incompatible with the system model'. Any ideas?
  4. Thanks for the info, please could you direct me to the correct pat file as I could only find what was in the list and assumed they would work? This is the boot image I have: NanoBoot x86 5.0.2.4-vfat Server error (error code 38) If you are installing using wireless connection yada, yada, yada...... Also the formatting data partition step 3 is greyed out, the diskstation gets an IP address OK because I see it in SA and also the webpage half opens up, I am direct connected using an Ethernet cable so don't know why I see this error. Could not find any reference to this error code on the forums either....
  5. Still not luck in getting this working, could really do with some help! Thanks in advance.
  6. Is anyone able to help me with my issue, tried over the weekend with no success. Thanks in advance
  7. So I'm still having issues, now when I try to load the pat file DSM_DS214play_4528.pat with the above NanoBoot I get an error in SA: Server error (error code 38) If you are installing using wireless connection yada, yada, yada...... Also the formatting data partition step 3 is greyed out, the diskstation gets an IP address OK because I see it in SA and also the webpage half opens up, I am direct connected using an Ethernet cable so don't know why I see this error. Could not find any reference to this error code on the forums either....
  8. OK so tried the VFAT image and it worked, will let you know how I get on!
  9. Hi htpcdude, Thanks for the info, I downloaded the file NanoBoot-x86-5.0.3.1-fat.img and wrote this to a 4GB USB stick using Win32DiskImager. I now get a message during boot "unknown keyword in configuration file" which appears several times and then just a cursor, I saw another post that said to type help then hit enter then hit enter again but this did not work. I tried to write the image several times to the stick (which is new today) but still the same result each time, also formatting in full first using the HPUSB tool then using the Win32DiskImager tool again to write the image also did not work. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
  10. Help! I am new to XPEnology and trying to install to an Abit Digidice SFF PC that has an IS50 mainboard, am using a Pentium 4 HT CPU and 2GB RAM and just a single SATA disk to start. Have tried all boot images I could find and get a message "This kernel requires an X86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU. Unable to boot – please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU" have updated BIOS to latest available version and tried all settings I can think of in the BIOS but get the same message for all images. Really want to use XPEnology and put the old Digidice machine to good use or else chuck it out which would be a waste, any help would be greatly appreciated!
  11. I gave up in the end and stuck Windows Server 2008 on the S550, had a job finding a SATA controller driver but in the end found an adaptec driver that worked a treat! I now have a Win 2008 server installed on drive 1 with drives 2 - 12 as a RAID5 array, and also running all the services I need!
  12. I too have an S550 that I want to re-purpose and have also been able to install Ubuntu on one of the 12 drives in the unit, I cannot find any way to configure the raid outside of the Netapp Ontap software. Does the Marvell controller have a BIOS setup page you can access to configure the RAID independent of Ontap? Have you had any luck with this device? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
