  1. No Doubt but Synology wont get that satisfaction again. The initial excitement of a new toy is over, overall i'm too thrilled with my choices. I prefer to roll my own but waiting for an easier path to v7 via XP got the better of me. Lesson learned.
  2. My adventures in swapping from xpenolgy to real synology (not that xpenology is not real) Ran DS918+ at 6.2.3.xx with Hybrid(SHR) RAID on a j3455-itx mobo. I had 2x4TB 2.5" HDD effectively a RAID 1 configuration due to only 2 HDD. I bought a DS720+ and took drive 1 from old system and plugged it into slot 1 of 720+. At this point the 720+ was bone stock (2GB of memory and no cache). The system booted and straight up asked if I wanted to migrate from the 918+ at 6.2.3 to 7.0.1. Yep. Once it is up it tells me degraded system due to bad HDD (the missing #2 HDD) I install a 14TB EXOS Seagate and let the rebuild begin. Rebuild complete, power down and add 8GB of crucial memory and 2xNVMe 500Gb to cache slots and reboot. checkout system. Shutdown again. Remove 4TB HDD and replace with another 14TB EXOS and rebuild again. I now have 2x14TB, still Hybrid(SHR) Everything is working as expected. All packages are there, settings, everything. Since that effort in early January I have added a DX517 plus another 14TB. At this point I can't add to that pool as I only have 1 drive protection but I have 4 more slots to build other pools etc. Quite happy so far but it is not an inexpensive process. right now I still have 2 of the original HDD set aside for another experiment. Good Luck MF
  3. Similar situation to original poster. I have been an xpenolgy user for some years (many thanks to all for their fantastic efforts). I stepped out to get a DS720+. In it's base form it is pretty grim but memory (additional 8GB) and NVMe (2x500GB) upgrades make it usable for my modest needs. Can't beat the UI. I took the drives (2x4TB) from one of my xpengoly systems and plugged the drives in to the DS720+, it migrated seamlessly. All settings and data in place. Since then swapped 4TB for a 14TB and no problems
  4. Just recently, possibly after upgrade to 6.2.3-25426, the End function in DL Station no longer closes out a torrent. I typically seed for sometime after but once I see no activity against a file I like to End and delete torrent. Anyone else seeing this? Cheers MF
  5. Anyone try fresh install? I have been through this thread and still not entirely sure weather the experiences noted are fresh install attempts of upgrades from 6.2.3. Cheers MF
  6. - Outcome of the install/update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 2 - Loader version and model: JUN'S LOADER v1.04b - DS918+ - Using custom extra.lzma: NO - Installation type: BAREMETAL - AsRock J3455M - additional Intel based NIC Upgrade with DSM function - Reboot required
  7. DSM version prior update: DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 6 = both systems. I use the smaller config as a test system for upgrades etc. Yes, boot time and time to network access was almost 20 minutes on larger system
  8. Standard PSU in as much it came with the "media center" case. - Loader version and model: JUN'S LOADER v1.04b DS918+ - Using custom extra.lzma: NO - Installation type: BAREMETAL - Asrock J3455-ITX
  9. ASRock J3455M 8GB 2x4TB 2.5" HDD - 22watts ASRock J3455M 16GB 4x6TB, 1x8TB 3.5" HDD - 45watts
  10. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 6 - Loader version and model: JUN'S LOADER v1.04b DS918+ - Using custom extra.lzma: NO - Installation type: BAREMETAL - Asrock J3455-ITX - Additional comments: Auto update, Reboot required. Very long startup time, at least 20mins before system was usable. Reboot times are also around 10mins
  11. Problem solved via different route. Broke out an old router once used as extender and configured to match subnet xxx.xxx.0.1. Logged onto server , enabled Admin and set new PW. changed IP Status to DHCP. Swapped out temp router, all is back to normal(ish)
  12. Thanks for input. Indeed subnet has changed. from192.168.0.1 to xx1.1 everything else on the new network is set and I don't want to set the Router to 0.1. I will try for the static route Cheers GP
  13. All, Thanks for any input. I moved house, new router with new base IP. While at old house XPenolgy sever had manual IP and admin account disabled. New house, I boot server and see in Synology Assistant old IP address and Connection Failed, I select option to Setup to allow "wizard" to configure network. It asks for Admin PW. no matter what I input for PW it fails. I am (clearly) not an Network SME Cheers MF
  14. "built in Realtek RTL8111GR" - this is at least one of your problems, it may be the only one. have you read any other posts on this update? there are many.
